Have you heard of fatwood? I think it may be a nice addition to your collection!
Like oil lamps, it has also been in use as a cheap light source and for kindling for centuries, especially by the common people in colder climates.

As you can see in the article, the holders were usually made of clay (often in the shape of a head) or metal (parts?). For the fatwood itself, pine branches could be used, or simply sticks.
If you're feeling adventurous (and if the game allows it), you could also add a simple fatwood splinter as an equippable item, which you would carry between your teeth. That way, unlike the regular torch, you'd have a hands-free light -- excellent for mining and digging!
