Oil Lamps

描述
A range of medieval oil lamps including a simple clay bowl lamp; a clay bowl held in place by a metal pin hammered into a beam or wall; a clay bowl suspended from a beam or ceiling; a glass bowl similarly suspended; and a pendant lamp of seven glass bowls as shown in a painting by Giotto (circa 1300).

I'm not completely happy with the flame element of this mod yet; more work on this will follow.

Also, I'm going to work on a range of authentic candles and holders (to be published soon).

*Updated 06/06/2022*

Flames modified to appear slightly better.
Mod dependency changed: glass now comes from STORI3D PAST's Working casement Windows.
Crafting recipes changed to be more realistic (oil lamps now need oil!)

** Updated 05/02/2023 **
Crafting recipes amended to be more realistic.

(The listed Mod dependencies are required for crafting in Survival Mode.)

@ Dark Angel: I can't do anything about that. But if you want to make the light cover a wider area, you can change the --Light-- <Range> in the "_Particle" Data file for whichever item you want to change.

Interesting. I have heard of fatwood as an outdoor/wilderness survival tool and as kindling, but I didn't know it had been used in a domestic context. Thanks: I'll look into this.

Ah, good to see some other light sources that aren't torches, sconces or candles!
Have you heard of fatwood? I think it may be a nice addition to your collection!
Like oil lamps, it has also been in use as a cheap light source and for kindling for centuries, especially by the common people in colder climates.

As you can see in the article, the holders were usually made of clay (often in the shape of a head) or metal (parts?). For the fatwood itself, pine branches could be used, or simply sticks.

If you're feeling adventurous (and if the game allows it), you could also add a simple fatwood splinter as an equippable item, which you would carry between your teeth. That way, unlike the regular torch, you'd have a hands-free light -- excellent for mining and digging!
