Actually, there already exists a fork of this mod - updated for 1.4 - that does not require Dubs Bad Hygiene. It was first published back in April of 2022:

Can anyone else confirm this still works in 1.4? (Author's comment seems to suggest otherwise.)
Granted, it could be nice as a configurable (defaults to on) feature, so if something in dubs bygone breaks, this mod can work

this mod works in 1.4 (aparently). Just @OptimusPrimordial has updated most of his mods to 1.4, but he wants to update them only when he has gotten all of his mods updated (both annoying and nice imo).
I don't get why he wouldn't "update" mods like this, where all he needs to do is update a tag and change one value, but that's just me. Perhaps part of it is he also added new features when changing that tag?

Also, they say never ask this, but I don't listen to "they". Any sort of ETA?
Of course, another option would be for @OptimusPrimordial to make it produce much less heat, so there is barley any produced, just enough for the code to work.
If you'd prefer they not do that go into the buildings.xml and delete:

this will make those two only cost water to run and not heat up their surroundings.
I have my water towers connected to them, but it doesn't seem like they're using the water or being cooled at all.
Otherwise, you just deconstruct it when it's done.
Also, I understand not including the abucus, but could you include a basic anolog computer, like the Antikythera mechanism [en.wikipedia.org]. Something basic, basicly. Sure the Antikythera mechanism wasn't for research, but Creative Liscense. if not that, just something anolog. It could also have enough gears taht it needs water, but it can't connect to pipes, so they must use tubs!
