I think this could gain a feature in that with certain items, the auto-activate doesn't activate in empty rooms where the charges would be wasted.

Confirmed guppy's head works with judas on new update. Thanks!
Strange thing is I didn't need to turn off all checks.

Perhaps the pocket actives + mod might be involved?


Side note, would be nice being able to do the same feature for Q items, but I'm not sure how difficult that would be.

The strange thing was, it worked on Isaac's D6 on one of my other save files, but failed many times on my main save. I'll install the update and tell you if I have any issues

There was a bug that prevented saving/loading settings that I didn't notice, thanks for bringing this to my attention, it should be fixed now.

In regards to activation factors, there are only a couple of checks being done, and none of them should prevent you from doing what you were trying to do (even with default settings). I've added a new setting to ignore all checks anyway though, so feel free to try using it. Not sure why you're having issues with all characters though, it seems to be working fine for me, so perhaps try checking the console or making sure you don't have any conflicting mods installed.

The setting in the mod config resets every time the game starts.

If there's any other factor besides the mod just not activating, could you make sure any deactivation factor (like custom characters or items) can be toggled off?
I got guppy's head in the red redemption challenge and it didn't work there either, even though it's just a weird tainted Jacob.

Custom characters are disabled by default to prevent issues with custom items and game mechanics, but you can enable custom characters through the Mod Config Menu

The character I'm playing is the punished, and the active I'm trying to use is guppy's head, I'm not sure why that would break things

Yeah, this mod doesn't work with all characters due to weirdness with how some of their active slots work, or if they're actually 2 characters with separate active slots. I mostly made this mod for myself, so I haven't had the time to make it work with all characters. I'm aware of this issue and it's bothering me too, so I'll look into making this work with all characters and post updates here, and feel free to subscribe to this comments section to get notified.

V I have the same bug as well. Every item combined with car battery will infinitely use it in any gamemode.

i have a bug on greed mode with car battery and wooden nickel where it uses it repeatedly infinitely and game crashes from overload

Wish this was also available for the tainted characters's Sub-Actives. I.e, yum heart as tainted Mag.

Thank you for letting me know, just pushed an update that fixes this. Shoop da whoop and similar items will no longer be forcefully discharged, and pressing the use key will deactivate active auto use until it's re-enabled.

auto using shoop da woop (and probably other similar items) removes the charge from the item even if you don't fire it, unlike regular gameplay.

Yes, it is up to you to decide which item you want to be auto used, and you’re free to change your mind at any time. You just hold the use key to toggle auto-use on the currently selected active item.

Can I still activate items normally with this? Eg say like Guppy's Head is a no brainer always active, but what if I have something like Mr ME where I would want to save it for a shop? Say if I have multiple charges for it and I want to steal only one item. Would this prevent me from doing that or is it a separate toggle?

Yeah, you should see “auto use” under your active item
