Sad to see so many idiotic (although old) comments down farther into the comment section. The smoothing errors on the original model were atrocious. Even if Valve doesn't really add workshop fixes, props to the author for fixing it.

It's a good fix, but Valve won't implement this, since Valve is very arrogant and believe their models should not be tampered with

When I look at the before and after I can see the same excact shapes just less polys (which could infact make it look sharper). I am quite sure this isnt a smoothing error. Although it does certainly look better with the shadeing.

The Idea is good, and I must say, good job. however if you made it a little more jaggered, I think it would get in, The Idea Valve was going for was exsploded.

I don't know. I've never been bothered by it since the thing's supposed to have blown up. the new model to me looks almost too... "Pretty" or deliberate for a half-detonated item.

Nice work, I hope it gets added as a fix for the original terrible shading model. Its nice to know people out there are working to make sure things look high quality, but I never noticed the caber even had this shade error because I'd die before I could see it.

you people are also forgetting that the entire model, wood and unbent metal, also has awful smoothing errors. anyone who objects this obviously doesnt like nice things.

not a retexture, not a switch to flat shading, what he did was decompile the model, set an edge split modifier, mark sharp any edges that dont follow the edge split angle, recompile, and upload to workshop.

I do like the default version better actually, albeit some parts look a bit wierd, it has the feel of bent metal, the new version is just a minecraft version

Nice. Thing is though, Valve don't really add things in game other than weapons, hats and miscs from the Workshop so I doubt it'll be added. Such a shame really.
