It isn't that hard to reconnect the drone, you just need to hover it a bit and then dock it manually

how do you easily re-attach the drone? hovering it over the hardpoint is really hard, we need some sort of grabber to grab the front of it and push it into place

@LeboyEB You tuen on the power then turn on the engine then press 5 to disconnect the connecters and then you can fly

a quick tip on how to dock move the drone in to position then let it lay on the bed next try and fly the drone back up this should work if not then retry

You should make an environment mod mission that spawns an automated crane arm with some modules that the crane can quickly hook/unhook to the truck. It would make loading/unloading without spawning a new one possible, and quite easy and fast.

You paste the module onto it in the workbench.
And yes, you can land the drone again. I've done it several times
