Is anyone else running into an issue with the menu not appearing? I can still open the properties menu, and can actually still select tools and such with the action key and moving the mouse appropriately, but the menu itself never appears on screen. I also noticed that in the console It's giving me an error of "[GB-Radial] You are running and outdated version."

If any of y'all know a fix, it would be much appreciated; this was by far one of my all-time favorite tools for gmod, but after having to reinstall recently this issue has been cropping up and making it almost impossible to use.

I have tried verify the game, as far as I remember on what is broken and what not or conflicting, i have tried all options I believe, removed addon legacy every single one,checked cfg, and god knows what other, reinstalled, checked nvidia settings, i did everything. And just nothing works

@Voltjohn: Thank you for taking the effort to verify it's not another addon. However I have no clue.
Maybe try verifying your steam cache.
-Do you remember the time when it last worked for you?
-Like did you change something before it stopped working properly?
-Does it work on a multiplayer server which has the addon? (maybe you can find one through the collections this addon is in)
I mean look at bob. His problem implies that he can use it normally with the oldest question for the addon.

@bob: You stated the oldest question the addon had which is also the only question in the FAQ section here ;p
But to answer it directly: No. The server has to have this addon and the addons for the voicelines.

Would be nice to have a functioning wheel in multiplayer i could bring to quick say commands or voicelines if server ofc allows the voice lines

@SirRanjid Currently disabled all possible mods and the problem still persists as am not sure why, am literally only running this mod, every other mod I have is off

@Voltjohn: I'm sure something is conflicting. Else there'd be more peoplereporting the same here. As this addon is built upon the original it also uses some of the same functions. Which further strengthens my suspicion.

@bob: If theres a console command to shout stuff, yes. If you shout stuff by saying stuff the command should be something like "say <stuff_to_shout>"

Was using the old one, everything was working fine, till it stopped showing up, i can still somehow use it by blindly moving mouse to the tool I cannot see and choose it still, i am unable to see what tools I wanna choose etc. Same with this addon, in the console doesn't show anything no errors nothing, and am sure nothing is conflicting at all

Just paste the config into the prompt and tell it what to do. Also make backups. 🤞🤞

@Berzerkinblaze: Nice that you figured that out. But I'm not updating anything sorry. If you'd provide an update to the code I could patch that in I think. But² Honestly I have no motivation to redownload GMod which is the easier part. Then setting up the uploading etc.

But³ I have a different solution: I'm not sure how I encoded the config file you messed up, however ChatCPT might be very helpful in editing stuff there.

Thank you @middi for helping me quickly identify why this mod was effectively broken for me.

It seems to have been because I renamed a command. Upon loading into the game again, my hotkey for opening one of my radial menus didn't work and caused an error, and trying to open the config resulted in a lot of errors, and the menu was virtually unusable so I couldn't remove the problematic preset ingame.

It is unfortunate, but because I don't know how to properly remove a preset entry from the .txt files, I had to delete them all to continue using the mod. I know the mod author isn't really doing Gmod stuff anymore, but this is a bug that I would very much appreciate being fixed, and I'd provide help if necessary.

To anyone who's deciding on getting this mod, it's a very good and helpful mod that still works in my experience. However, DO NOT rename ANY commands (or weapons?) in your radial menu, or else you risk running into the same problems we did and losing your presets as a result.

If anyone gets the error where the radial menu wont close after you try to select a tool, just turn off sound in the settings menu to fix it

(right click > settings menu > bottom right corner > sound icon)

for some reason, renaming functions causes
-the function to appear invisible in the menu and
-the addon to throw a bunch of errors, chiefly something regarding an "attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'from' (a nil value)"

I never expected anyone needing to use the .txt. And given that my gmod time is over it's unlikely that another update will happen. Iirc the insides of the .txt should be uncompressed and have a logical structure to it so you can manually copy and paste the required parts of it. It just takes a little work on your part to figure it out.

It's kinda weird that all presets are saved in a single .txt file in a table format. is there any chance this could be changed to instead have a folder and each preset be a separate txt?

I don't remember exactly but it's in the local files of gmod/data as a .txt file. You can also use the windows search function for "radial".

I don't know the other mod. But this one will most likely stay as it is since I'm not really interested in gmod anymore...
At most I would make sure that it won't lose compatibility with further gmod versions as new gmod versions liked to do in the veery past.

Good question. I tried making sure to minimize the possibility of compatibility conflicts. But with this many mods it's almost impossible to do so. Glad you found the solution.

ok i disabled all other mods and it works so it must be a mod conflict

the only thing it can do is swap tools i cant change weapons or spawn items or anything else

Don't know if this is still active, but there's a bug where if you use submenus (using the load_preset command), the command in the same location doesn't get run when you let go of the button you binded to +gb_radialmenu. For example, if you had a button that opened another menu in the 0th position, the 0th position in the menu it opened wouldn't run if you let go of the button over it.

Now, I'm not sure if this is going overboard, but I just spent the last hour finding the problem, and that is that the variable "clickedon" is not reset in Radial.loadradialpreset, so the addon thinks that you already clicked on the command, so doesn't run it. This seemed to fix the problem for me.

I've recently been having issues where the radial menu refuses to open up. Additionally the key I bound to it can't seem to open it up, and I can no longer bind the command.

It seems garry's mod restricted the use of this command. So you can only use it via console or bind it via console to a key.
I only restricted commands that could be abused to spam.
