This is C which is the Carrier Variant. Not the STOVL variant.

I first paste the entire preset to the plane, then I cut the two outer pods and paste them with theyr hardpoint connector next to the hardpoint connector on the wing. Spawn the plane but they fall to the ground anyway

How did you try?
I could attach them by cutting and pasting at the Selection Grid mode.

I tried moving them closer to the hardpoints but since the wings stay folded they won't attach anyway

ehm, the two outer missile pods on the wings (from your preset) won't attach because the wings are folded on spawn
