Yes I see what you mean. To retrieve the cube and the light bridge is essential indeed.
Have a look from 8:20 in the video solution for part 2 (here above in the description); to see how you can get back to the light bridge room without using the secret passage.
(I'm not saying that it's more obvious that way, but jumping down on the beams is working fine :p

Yes by "secret" I meant secret passages... not the crystals (I found 2 purely by accident but didn't really pay attention to those). And on the former, I beg to differ. The concealed passage/shortcut that leads back to the light bridge room is absolutely essential to making it possible to cross the chasm to the exit. And that one is really well hidden.

Yes it's indeed a hard one :P (a lot of observation and exploration).
You really don't need to find any Crystal to reach the exit.
Also there are only 2 secret passages: One is leading to a Crystal, the other is some kind of a shortcut. They are not required for solving the map.
On the other hand, I agree that it is well required to find the right path and to discover all the mechanisms on your way!

Wow.... That was a hard one. Spent days looking for the solution and it was really frustrating at times but it's very satisfying when you finally reach the exit. It's only by the end that I finally understood the philosophy of this puzzle. Every step requires finding a new secret to progress and if you don't find the secret passages you can't solve it. Also, be careful: sometimes you think you're out of the woods and you quicksave just to find out you painted yourself into a corner and have to re-trace all your steps almost from the beginning.

Thank you for the video, that is always very usefull. For example, in the next update of this map I see I have to show better the fizzler switch, that was not very obvious; my mistake.

Also you were right to try to get the bridge back from under the grate; I should make it clearer that it's only possible to set the cube manually, not using the air shuffle.

Glad you like it! You will probably find all 7 secrets; they are not really hidden, you just have to explore carefully some places :)
If I remember well you have to shoot a portal up there before going through the secret passage, so that you can come back easily, but I'll have to check that...

Really very nicely made. I found both the secret passages, the two crystals in part one, and three of the crystals in part two. Not sure where they might be but I'll keep looking.
The second secret passage brings you all the way back to the light bridge room. So I had to redo all of the ground floor section to get back to where I was. Which wasn't too hard, but I'm wondering if there is an easier way to get back to the entrance of the second secret passage after exiting it?

I did find some crystals and secrets. I was amazed at the sheer originality of the map. not enough original portal 2 maps out there. bravo. keep it up.

I fully agree that too few people play these kind of maps, and yet the Portals system is really a wonderful tool for adventure maps.

wow. this is one of the best adventure maps ive seen. I only had to use youtube twice. There were so many creative things about this map I can't even list them all. bravo! I think it's unfortunate that so few people have tried this map.

Hi VCF, Yes you're absolutely right; this map is quite difficult, as it's an adventure style you have to try a lot. I'm glad that you made it to the end :)

I really enjoyed this, but the difficulty level was high. I did have to go to YouTube a couple of times for help!

Salut Guy, peux-tu être plus précis car je ne trouve pas de sliding door dans cette map?

i would like to report an issue with one the sliding door that as no colision and allow to use the portable surface behind it

Oh yes they are some goodies to collect, as mentioned in the description.
The secret passages are optional; the one you found is actually useful as a small shortcut to the next move (but still optional).
The other one is in the first part of the map (indoor part), it is not meant to be usefull for the progression, but is leading to a crystal :)

I had found a secret passage to the companion cube/fan/light bridge area, but I didn't know what it meant until after I had beaten the level. I didn't even know there were collectables to be found, I was spending all of my energy getting to the end. So to recap, 0 crystals, 1 secret passage.

This map is indeed far from easy and requires a bit of unconventional thinking, while the progression is quite linear.
(I also love the cart thing, it was fun to build :D )

This is one of the most unconventional and confusing levels I ever played. If you didn't have the videos, you would probably rage quit like I did the first time I played it. On the other hand, MINE CART! 9/10
