i recently remembered these missiles and surprisingly they actually still work, they work very well.
i also thought of a good nickname for these things: OMNICIDE. The meaning of OMNICIDE is the destruction of all life or all human life by nuclear war, sounds quite cool and its meaning fits really well.

Hey Applo it's been a while since i messed with radiation, so I forgot for far it spreads. I am guessing it's about 100m?

How long it lasts is complicated. Each fuel rod contains a certain amount of radiation it could release, and it leaks out when the fuel rod is damaged. When the radiation enters the enivronment it seems to decay? More fuel rods means longer lasting radiation.

There are some ways to irradiate distant locations without player presence is to make each missile its own vehicle, and have a keep active block on it so the terrain spawns in to collide with it.

Another is to damage the fuel rods with a warhead, then have a missile that deploys a parachute to slowly descend at the target area while leaking radiation.

Out of curiosity, what's the range of the Radiation from 1 missile alone, also how long does it last and is there a way to make it emit radiation even if a player isn't near and it falls through the ground?

I think if you increase the weight, you'd have to go into the microcontroller on each missile and increase the engine throttle a little bit. Right now it sits near the bare minimum thrust to save fuel and increase its range.

How would I goabout adding warheads to this missile. I tried adding about 12 small warhead bodies but it landed about 4 km short of a 5km launch distance. Unmodified still works fine.

It was somewhat working a few days ago, but more wonky after the update, yeah. @offnem have to grab one of the radar guidance luas on the workshop, and connect it with the radar logic nodes, then connect radar's power relay to enable radar when near the target area, might take a while for me to get around to it with all the new DLC stuff.

it does not seem to work anymore, i think you will have to do a rework with some things to get it working again. when i input a destination, it just kinda goes up, and then goes the other way than i told it to.

it works now it was just me lol. also does it require vehicle damage to be on for it to release radiation

Just tested it's working, landed about 20m from a GPS target 7.5km out. Maybe check if the composite output node on the microcontroller is properly hooked up to the silo connectors? That controls the jet engine start.

also it seems the silo missiles when launched just fly and crash into the ground and never going to the target

The launch tubes should be merged with the sub. Make sure the volume that you are pasting into is clear. Maybe the floor of your sub is intersecting the launcher somewhere. It is safest to clear the volume on your sub of all blocks before you paste in the launcher, then check there are any holes from the cutting.

i used selection grid and put the missiles in my sub and merged the silo with the sub but not the missiles and now when i spawn it my sub just starts freaking out and flying and glitching

You can use the cutting tool to delete the airplane example part and just leave the silo parts I believe? They should be independent last time I checked.

Yeah you can modify them, I think it's stable enough you can give it 1-2 large jet fuel tank on top of the existing one and increase the length in the process.

They are not getting enough thrust after the last update for some reason. I have a few ideas for potential fix but haven't gotten around to testing them.

I'll probably make it when I have time, but that might take a while.

Doing it yourself is not trivial, but you you want to try it, take Upsurge's APN missile and copy the guidance lua into this missile's main controller, and hook up relevant logic nodes, I believe everything the lua block needs is present except maybe a linear speed sensor which you can stick anywhere.

when the missile is less than 3-5 km from the target area, engage the relay to power the radars and use a composite switcher to change the composite signal from the GPS to the lua block's output, if the radar detects something.

Note that the some sensor and steering direction are reversed as Upsurge may have different build styles, so it might take a couple of tries to get it to not go the opposite direction.

Any idea on how to make/use the terminal homing? Looking for a good GPS/Radar long-range-but-couldn't-be-bothered-to-watch-it-fly-100km anti ship weapon for a frigate i'm making, but I can't find any half-decent ones.
