Since you copied masked helmet for the spiked full helm it actually is counted as a medium helmet instead of heavy.

even after importing and getting the blueprint for armor multiple times it does not show up in my armor bench

would be great if it was colorable, but i'll think I might give it a try anyways: it'd be nice for dust bandits to be a BIT more challanging (just so long as they aren't going mad cat-lon on my noob characters...)
