I have linked an addon below that uses a feature for its M14 and MK14 which locks it automatically.
If you decompile one of the models, you will find the following sequences: "empty_idle" and "base_fire_last",
each with their respective activity that MUST BE the same in order to work in your case ( that would be
"ACT_VM_IDLE_EMPTY" and "ACT_VM_PRIMARYATTACK_EMPTY" ). The problem is that you need separate animations for
these cases, and if you don't have them, I don't think it's possible to make the operating rod lock back on this
weapon base ( I think CW 2.0 had this feature with LUA, so no extra animations needed, but I'm not entirely sure).

@JamesinatorYeah Automatic with the warzone sound sounds awesome imo
@AZZILLA as previously mentioned, I'm not doing every BOCW gun. Some like the LC10 don't deserve to be ported, others like the K31 there is already an excellent port of it. PPSH might make the cut, not sure
