I love this but it kinda feels like it doesn't work properly for extended notes and instead rapidly plays the same note until the held note is finished.

While a box of blood reference would have been great, I think blood is exclusive to Frackin' Universe. The next best option that would work in both vanilla and FU was a "Banana Bros" reference.
