It works when I paste it in creative, but when I make it in survival it doesnt even try to run.

could this work for an inch worm?
Is there a weight limit , say you have a bigger plattform in front of that elevator for large grid ships to be carried up and down, would that cause any forseeable issues?

I tried to make an elevator on a large grid. Even in a single game, large rotors create problems -
they twist, explode and break pistons.I have not been able to defeat these bugs. I also tried to replace the rotors with connecting blocks, but they have too long a response time for smooth operation of the elevator. Everything works fine on a small grid, thanks to BlackArmor for a great idea.

Changed the timer delay to move it to the required height and it worked perfectly, but it broke after loading the save, Started going like only 3-4 pistons up and down and I can't figure out how to reset it

Funny idea, what about using merge blocks instead of rotors?

Doesn't seem to be complete, and I can't seem to make it project onto the rotor small grid to be able to weld.....

This looks fantastic - really, I also liked the other swinging elevator, but how are people able to use this if the projector won't show multiple grids? Is there a workaround I've missed?

For some reason when I use it it vibrates even when sitting completely still, is that normal or did I do something wrong?

I'm using the scripted version, but I find that it doesn't constantly go to the same height. It will work perfectly for 20-30 goes and then occasionally it gets missed timed and I go one too far. Do you have any tips to help prevent this?

I assume the issue has to do with CPU load or something else that might cause the system to hang for a frame or two.

@Dekroom my go for suspensions is a platform holded by 2 vertically aligned beams (attatched by hinge/rotors), where one of the rotors has a damping velocity

Pistons don't have any spring to them along the axis of extension and there's no "braking torque" kind of feature for them either. A better suspension would be to have a beam pressing against a 1x1 wheel suspension (which has spring to it) and having your normal wheel suspension at the bottom of that beam

I am making a 1:1 scale replica of the U.S.S. Lexington from the Mission Critical DOS game. I had an idea a long time ago to do something like this exact set up to make an elevator that was true to the game. I have a huge ship and trying to build an elevator that covers several decks. Unfortunately, the design team of the ship in the game made several errors in how the decks stack up together. I would need to build something similar to the turbo lift from Star Trek, able to move both up and down, and translate forward and back to replicate the experience in-game. thinking of tweaking this system with 2 dimensional capability with an elevator car that matches the in-game look (already have a blueprint for it).

@seronis if you read you find this is just pure timer based + with version that script to simulate Precise Timers.
Timers just execute (action) On Off, cannot ask block value (property).
So no.

BTW @BlackArmor Easy Automation V2.0 have Precise Timers and also simple math to count how many Rotor heads must your elevator go up/down.

Is it possible for your script to check the grid coordinates of the rotor head it attaches to? If thats possible you could automate 'floors' just by referencing that coordinate

Лепаж - Correct I didn't build with multi-floors in mind, that would be easy to implement with an On/Off type switch though.

I did this using the modded 1x1 small grid merge blocks in the past. I think this is a better method as it dossnt create/break grids and only attach/detaches sub grids

Merge blocks are vanilla and more stable.
Do you know you can attach BIG rotor head to small rotor block, yes?
That way you do not need wall made from small blocks.
