you should make a vehicle version because it is 1 single vehicle that fits into a normal modded workbench, and i want to convert it to steam power for fun and stuff. and if you try to load it in from a mission after setting "is editable" to on it just guts the interior.

If your trying to spawn it in using the environmental menu on the main menu your doing it wrong. Spawn it in via the mission editor on the pause screen only.

the mod adds 2 ships on top of each other at the large rig

No. These vehicles don't work as standalone vehicles that's why they are uploaded as missions. They wont even spawn in using the editor, you HAVE to use the mission editor. There is literally a hard memory limit that these ships have far surpassed. Watch some videos on how to spawn in custom missions, there's nothing wrong with mine.

It works fine, I'm literally in Stormworks right now and the ship turns fine. Make sure you didn't hit the Auto-Helmsmen button next to the helm if the green light is on that means the autopilot has control of the ship.

Yes the should be, theres nothing in there
