To my understanding, the Vanilla Factions Expanded Medieval Mod does not add Backstories.
Regardless, the Patch that replaces the VFEM Pawns with Medieval Backstories is broken, and has been for a long, LONG time.
Thanks! You’re a star, I’ll try to upload it tomorrow and credit you in the description
Went through your mod a bit and used to opportunity to make it compatible with Medieval Overhaul too.

@gravius
I haven’t a clue to be honest, I’ll take a look at the logs over the weekend but if it’s this mod causing it I wouldn’t have any idea how to solve it.
I know people had issue with android tiers before and erroneously claimed this mod was the issue. This mod adds nothing but backstories so shouldn’t be the actual cause of any issues graphically. Rimworld can make it seem like an unrelated mod is the one causing problems tho, I’ve experienced it myself before
As I say tho, I’ll look in to it and see what I can determine
Sorry for the issues you’re having

Not sure if it was an incompatibility with another mod, but realized that all the pawns spawning invisible and shooting off thousands of errors were from VFEM, after a bit more debugging I realized they all had backstories from this mod.
I don't believe I am having the same issue, I don't use HAR. I will double check later today.
HAR was required pre 1.4. I removed the requirements as Vanilla has its own backstories framework now, all I can think is Rimpy is community managed (?) and the database isnt updated for this mod's new requirements
17 new children backstories, 2 enabled from vanilla
14 new adult backstories, 9 enabled from vanilla
If you check the change notes you can see all the names of new etc.
I plan to do some more work at some point to adapt vanilla backstories to be medieval themed
fine to add on an existing save?
The link I gave you is about another Medieval Faction that currently uses generic Backstories. I would really appreciate if you could try and add this framework onto that Mod.
I will likely release an update/release mod that uses Stories Retold for this purpose instead, but not anytime soon
There's nothing I can do, all this mod adds is XML code, none of which touch pawnbody selection (you can look yourself if you dont believe me). Any issue is caused because of AT. You can try using the FixList version from Dubs' discord server, I have no other suggestions. Sorry it's not worked for you
AT might be a clusterfuck in terms of code, but i have used it with VFEM since VFEM came out and it never had any issue, now i add your mod, load the save that worked fine with VFEM and AT on it, and voilla, pawngen is broken, then i remove your mod, bingo, pawngen fixed.
dont take this the wrong way, i dont want to tell you your mod is bad or badly coded, all i am saying that there IS an issue between this mod, and most likely AT, if thats rooted on the side of you or AT; i dont know, but i do know that the issue does not appear without your mod in the modlist, so you can ether look into that, ask the AT team to optimize their mod, or blame two mods that work totally fine together and have your subscribers have issues that wont fix themselves.
AT is coded badly
Please post an error log, this mod touches nothing to do with pawn generation in that regards
Now We Can Roleplay Medieval Stories (Thanks ChewyYui)
I'll probably swap over to Stories Retold and package the assemblies with this mod. Thanks for the feedback.
Do you know if Stories Retold offers any enhanced functionality for the backstories? I have been trying to restrict adult backstories to childhood sets, but havent had any luck. Apparently EBN 1.0 did it
