grinch469, Sorry you're having trouble.
I just took it for a spin just the other day to make sure it indeed worked, and it did.
Can you talk me through the steps you are following and the options you have set to on/off in the options menu?
This way I can try and duplicate your results and see if something is indeed amiss.
I know this aircraft is a year old, but i can't get it to start and i followed everything correctly.

The starter gets it up to around 65 rpm but no higher so it won't start.

squishy123, maybe if they make them more customizable. Right now I'm just going to wait for the dust to settle and see if they fix/change them. Hope you understand.

@GERUNIMO Thanks! I thought I'd need morethant 4 trials to succeed but I got lucky. Don't hesitate to ask me if you need anything!
Myrphac, WOW! That is some exhaustive testing!!! I might have to hire you as my test pilot! Thanks for getting back to me, and I'm glad you got everything figured out. Happy flying!
Myrphac 2021
Thank you for your answer and your time.

I had already seen the videos and knew those things. However, I had not undestood that you needed to have both AFCS and AFCS alt on at the same time. I had tried many thing yesterday before contacting you, hence the G-limiter in the OFF position. For some reson, leaving both AFCS on didnt work yesterday but it did today.

I tried doing a more serious series of tests and it seems that I managed to figure it out this time. If you're inerested, here are my test results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jnHqc36vfl7FnkvLO7mGCGcrjDrxXzMAZLe00YuiQ0w/edit?usp=sharing

Thanks again for this beautiful creation! Keep up the good work and sorry for bothering you
Myrphac, I think I can help you out already based on the information you provided. First, for normal flight operations always have the 'G-Limiter' on, this includes when the AFCS is operating. Also, unlike most aircraft the Tracker, Trader, and Tracer auto pilots all get their altitude information from a radar altimeter rather then a barometric one. Which means that if you are flying under 400ft and pass over a landmass the aircraft will pitch up, to account for the decreased distance between it and the ground.
Why do it like this? Because that is how it was on the real aircraft, oddly enough.
Also, thank you very kindly for the nice compliment early, I sure do appreciate it!
Let me know how it all works out.

There is tutorial videos I put together that explain most system operations. There is a link in the description, and they are "time stamped" so you don't have to watch the whole thing. Skip to 15:45 (in the S-2 Tracker tutorial) where I explain the autopilot.
Myrphac 2021
There's no need to be sorry! I'm going to run some tests tomorrow to give you a precise answer, but from what I recall, I managed to remain stable while flying over water at around 2500ft with AFCS on (not altitude AFCS) and G-Limiter off. My previous attempts were on altitudes between 250 and 1500ft, usually over water but on one occasion I crashed on the Sawyer Islands. What usually happens after engaging AFCS altitude is that the plane would ascend by around 250-500ft/min before diving at a maximum of -1600ft/min, I would then wait before disengaging AFCS and recover the plane just before impacting the ground/sea (not always successfully). But I'm definitely going to test that to find out what's wrong with me, worry not.
Myrphac, I'm sorry you having trouble. What is your altitude when you engage the system and are you flying over water? Also, do you have the G-Limiter on?
Correction: I've managed to make the standard AFCS somewhat work (hold pitch and keep plane stable enough), but the Altitude AFCS always send me in a dive
It's one of the best creations in SW yet IMO, congrats bud! I just want to point out that I can't level the aircraft properly using AFCS sadly, using the Altitude hold or the pitch hold always puts me in a steep dive, no matter what I try. Do you think I'm doing something wrong ?
Lupus the Canine, thanks for the nice comment! Yes, unfortunately because of all the sub-bodies and lua your logic FPS takes a hit; I've taken the stance with most of my builds that I'd rather have the features over the performance, I am sorry about this but I figured we all would rather have a vehicle in game that functions and sorta looks like the real thing vs. one that doesn't.
Take care!
Lupus the Canine 2021
It is a great plane but performance is terrible for me ~20-30 TPS.

tusplappert, ok now I understand. When you said "overheat" I thought you mean't the engines were either about to or had already caught fire.

I tried to keep the engine(s) operation as realistic as possible which meant having them run a little hot for in-game standards. 84C is a perfectly normal temperature, however if the temperature reaches 110 or higher you'd better throttle back.

Keep in mind that the cowl flaps are less effective when the aircraft is stationary as little to no air is moving over the cylinders.
Also, as per the manual anything over 2 minutes at full power can result in the engine(s) actually overheating.

What I am curious about is how you managed to get the engines to cool with the parking brake applied while airborne. The only way this would be possible is if the throttle was also set almost to idle.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further trouble.
Schwarzer_Franzose 2021 年 1 月 15 日 上午 12:53
GERUNIMO, the engines were idling and i had cowl flaps as well as the boost pumps active to cool the engines but they always overheated, but when i disengaged the park brakes the temperature went down. I tested this in flight like i engaged the parking brakes and disengaged them and always when the parking brakes were on the engines began to overheat, up to about 84°C.

Jake B.|5D-18|CIVR-47|F-502, glad you like it, and thanks for the nice comment! It's simpler then you think, certainly simpler then typing your screen name ;D
Your creation is amazing but way too complex for me to use lol, amazing work though!
lol_wut, never mind I 'Googled' what you typed. Thank you I think? Glad you like the aircraft!
tusplappert, sorry your having trouble. Did you have the engines revved up prior to idling them? Whats the OAT? Also, do you have the Cowl Flaps open?

lol_wut, I'm sorry I mean no disrespect but I have no idea what any of that means. I got "dang" and "it" but there isn't any part of the aircraft labeled "BOI" or "THCC". Could you be more specific and I'll try and help you if I can.
Schwarzer_Franzose 2021 年 1 月 14 日 下午 12:04
The engines are overheating when they're on idle
Redinvader, sorry your having these troubles. Well, it kinda seems like your doing everything correctly. I noticed you typed "AC BUS Tie" which I presume is a typo as you wouldn't be able to do any of the aforementioned things without the DC BUS Tie on.
Anyway, I don't explain it very well in the video, but make sure you press and hold BOTH the Starter and the Primer at the same time when starting an engine. Also make sure the Battery isn't dead. Anything under 85% might require a Ground Power Unit. BUT, the electrical cables were broken recently (in an update) so you might have to wait for an update OR reload the aircraft.
Hope that helped, let me know how it goes.
Take care!
i cant get this to start sadly
i switch the AC BUS Tie to on
Crack the Throttle 0.02
Prime the Fuel System to 5 PSI
Spin the Prop 10 Blades
then Activate the Magnetos
and then engage the Starter but the Max RPM is ~34 no ignition
And yes ive tried to Prime it, no effect

Donkk! Ghost! Thanks guys, that means ALOT coming from you! Ghost, I thought, you thought Tracers were ugly? Don't worry I do too :D

troglodyt, Thanks for the nice comment and glad you sorted yourself out. In real life turning the Mags on during clearing of the cylinders could result in them either being fouled or a premature detonation of fuel in the cylinder. Both could result in a trip to the shop for a new engine. Here, thankfully it's just simulated.
Thank you for your response. The fault was mine of course :-)
Switching through all the switches before engine start, I switched the magnetos on _before _ doing the spin up of the engines... Doing it the other way around worked of course.
Once again: A brilliant build. Thanks for sharing.
troglodyt, love your screen name, by the way!
troglodyt, well outwardly it sounds like your doing everything correctly. It is possible the battery is running a little low in between engine starts. If the battery is under 85% it might have a hard time starting. If this is the case you can shut off the boost pumps wait for the opposite engine to charge the battery a bit or (when the electrical cables get fixed) use a Ground Power Unit to keep the batteries charged. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any further troubles.
Really a marvelous build!
Sadly I can't get the right engine to start up. Left engine works fine. The right one climbs to around 34 rpm but no further. Like it's getting no fuel. Both fuel boost and magnetos are on. Throttle at 0.02. Am I doing something wrong?
BenTender, sorry your having difficulty. Where you able to watch the tutorial videos or did you have difficulty understanding them?
