Im guessing the reason it is defined as a set number of days is that it takes more steps to calculate what the correct time would be.

A set amount of days means it has to check only 1 value when a session starts, then set a countdown of game ticks until it fires off a bit of code to allow premature ending of a session. This is likely a handful of operations.

But a multiplier? That means spending operations getting the vote timer, looking at said value, then going over to see what to multiply by, doing so, then setting that value so when a session occurs, it knows what to set that countdown to. There is no benefit to this other than not spending a few seconds with a calculator to find the same value and setting it in defines.

I *think* it's a bit wonky though. I'll have to double-check but I'm not actually sure it's reading that value as it should. (Maybe a newbie programmer derped and hardcoded it or something.) When I have a better idea what's going on I'll come back with some more info for ya.

You may want to update RESOLUTION_VOTE_PREMATURE_TIMER. Despite the in-game tooltip saying that you have to wait halfway to end a session prematurely as the custodian/emperor, it's actually explicitly defined as a set number of days. (Why this isn't a multiplier is beyond me; that'd make more sense.)

It's already compatible with 3.0.1. None of these defines changed. As for balance, these are my personal changes. If you want different balance, I'd recommend making your own mod changing these defines.

I love your mod and I think its totally necessary
but emergency and veto are so important for have avaliable all the time, can u do something about it? modify it, or a sub mod for it, or create a decision about it in politics?

The changes are nice but emergency measures is ridiculous, you can put up any law you want TWICE in the amount of time it'd take for normal resolutions to go through, they pretty much never go through unless there is really absolutely nothing to propose

SUCCESS. I completely cleaned this mod from every folder I could think of, including playsets and just generally in the launcher, Steam folders and the Stellaris mod folder. I then re-subscribed to it in hopes it would work this time, and it did! Thanks for your help :)

That worked (checksum changed and ingame senate immediately passed something), but I really don't want to keep a local copy around. And from the looks of it this local mod thing does the same thing as the "ugc_*.mod" files by just redirecting the path to the actual mod folder. If you don't mind, I added you. I'd like to debug this a bit more and actually use the workshop version :/

Alright. Created the file myself, told Steam to verify files, also told the launcher to reload all mods. Still no dice. Checksum didn't change and when I check in game the senate session is still in session but it says 572 or so days and I'm assuming that should change immediately.

Trying the local mod thing now.

Turns out the launcher never created a "ugc_2312203163.mod" in "/home/btr/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/". If I can't get the launcher to do this by verifying files and readding the mod to the playlist I'll just create that file myself :)

I put the defines mod above GCE just to have it resemble GCE before the defines were taken out in terms of load order. I loaded the game without the defines and then with the defines and indeed the checksum did not change.

I'll first delete the mod and see if that helps and then try the suggested method. But this was very good advice. Thanks. Would never have figured out to check the checksum.

Strange. It's possible that it's an issue with Steam; I've had cases where some Steam mods don't correctly activate (this has happened to me with Dynamic Political Events). Does activating and deactivating this mod affect your checksum? If not, try making a local version of this mod by copying the contents of the steam mod folder to a local mod made via the Paradox launcher.

Yeah but that's what I mean. When it was still in GCE it worked and now it doesn't even though I have not changed any other mods. It should just work :( have not figured out more yet. Also I don't have any mod that touches those defines.

It doesn't matter if this is before or after GCE, since the changes are independent. It should only matter if there's another mod overwriting the same defines.

I have no clue. I mean this should work if I just put this mod under GCE right? would essentially be like the previous configuration. But I'll try around more I guess. Will report back should I find a fix.

No idea; I assume there's a conflict somewhere, since it's working for me. Do you have any other mods that overwrite the whole defines file (I know Glavius does this).

No matter where I put this in the load order, I even put it at the end, these defines do not work. My resolutions are still at 1400 or something days. Any idea why that could be? It worked fine when these were in the original mod and they were sorted anti-alphabetically (to keep old mods working with their quirky names).
