@gdough The Norman culture gets a tradition that lets you have one concubine, which will override the limits based on religion. So, if the Harem mod is the one that modifies how much spouses or concubines you can have, it may conflict and one would need to create a compatch. (However, when you upgrade the Norman tradition, the overriding behavior disappears.)
gdough 8. okt. kl. 1:38
love this mod sucks it stops working with the Harem mod after forming Norman culture
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 6. okt. kl. 18:23
@Proxima-b Are there any counties of your faith *outside* the duchy of Normandy? The way struggles are hardcoded, if the religion requirement is 50% for instance, this does not mean that 50%+ of all counties in the struggle region are of that faith, it means 50%+ of all counties around the world are in that struggle region. (It's weird, yes.) There's nothing much I can do about this.

If you want to manually take care of yourself, you can use the following console command while playing as your character in Normandy:

effect struggle:RICE_normandy_struggle ?= { set_faith_as_involved = root.faith }
Proxima-b 6. okt. kl. 11:15
The Normandy mini-struggle seems bugged, I had my new faith complete control and converted all of Normandy but somehow it's still not "involved"

@osas Based on the DDs, it appears the new flood disasters in AUH are more like random occasional instances of a flood, whereas my Nile situation represents the regular flood cycle of the Nile. Thus, my plan is my Nile situation will automatically go into the Overflooding phase in the next phase, if a flood disaster hits. Obviously this depends on how the code for the actual flood disasters work, but I hope that option is doable.
osas 5. okt. kl. 21:08
This has probably been asked before, but I'd like to ask. In Dev Diary #181, when they revealed the "natural disasters" mechanic, they also introduced the Nile flooding situation. How will this interact with the similar mechanic added by the mod?

@anh2000 Thanks for the information!
anh2000 5. okt. kl. 11:30
@shui that happened to me with different mods, what fixed it entirely was to change the paging file size. Here's how you do it on windows:

Adjust your Windows virtual memory settings by opening Advanced System Settings, going to Performance Settings, then the Advanced tab, clicking Change under Virtual Memory, unchecking "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives," and setting a custom size for your desired drive. Mine are set at 40,000 for both min and max.

Here's some commentary:

By now I forget exactly the mechanism behind why it works but I have had a single crash in 3 months when before I'd be getting at least one every hour. I believe the issue stems from the way CK3 allocates system memory while saving files where it basically overdraws available system memory, leading to a crash. This is also why the crashes can corrupt save files which is extra annoying.

Hope this works for you and anyone else who needs help.
St.Jericho 5. okt. kl. 4:36
@shui yes and had to try different things. Turning off v-sync worked for me but the game feels a lot less smooth.
Shui 4. okt. kl. 12:54
Anyone had weird issue where the game just freezes anytime you try to save or load? UI can still be messed with but nothing progresses
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 3. okt. kl. 22:37
Just released a hotfix for RICE 1.17.0 "Makuria"/Nubian Flavor Pack.
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 3. okt. kl. 11:42
@Archi Re-Mede: Glad to be of service!

@Wulfhund: I think merchant republics would require dedicated mechanics beyond struggles/situations, as the latter are more vehicles for organizing mechanics and flavor in a logical narrative. There have been several mods that did stuff related to merchant republics since the game's release. To my knowledge, the first major one was Res Pubica , which was strongly inspired by CK2's republics, but the modder behind it is no longer active; more recently, there was Golden Dominion which uses Roads to Power's landless/estate system, it seems most recently updated to 1.16.
Wulfhund 3. okt. kl. 10:34
Thanks do much.... has anyone tried to tackle the bugbear of merchant republics and leagues on a bigger scale in the regions where they played huge parts?would struggles and/or situations allow for this possibility?

Is the modding community holding back and waiting for Paradox to deliver an improved economic system before anyone tries to tackle it?

It seems like such a shame so far along in the development of the game that merchant powers have been neglected.
Archi Re-Mede 3. okt. kl. 9:31
Thanks for fuelling my autism :diplomacy:
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 2. okt. kl. 22:33
@finallyciv Thanks for the high praise! :)
finallyciv 2. okt. kl. 7:13
Paradox should pay you for making the game so worthwhile! Your content is of a higher quality, is better researched and embedded, and has much more flavour and depth than most, if not all, CK3 DLC. Thank you!
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 1. okt. kl. 21:17
@screechfox You're welcome and thanks for the heads up! The images in the mod description are just headers for the different categories mostly so you're not really missing out on much thankfully.
screechfox 1. okt. kl. 4:52
Thanks for your work on this mod and others! Just to let you know that Imgur is blocked in the UK, so I can't view the images in the mod description without a VPN. Not a high priority, just thought I'd make you aware!
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 30. sep. kl. 18:09
@Stephince thanks!

@polmont Generally it's not good idea to disable mods partway through a save. If you added this partway through a save that's not advisable as that may cause issues; if you didn't, CTDs are notoriously hard to diagnose especially if you're using a lot of mods. One thing that helps sometimes is to go back to an earlier save, such as from 3 or 5 years before, and make sure you do completely different things, and seeing if that helps.

@Годрик Сторукий: Thanks! I do hope to do something in Carpathia and the Balkans eventually. But probably not until next year, as I will be focused on stuff related to AUH for the near term.
Годрик Сторукий 30. sep. kl. 13:40
@cybrxkhan , thank you for your beautiful mod and hard work . Do you have in plans flavour pack for Hungary or all Carpathia region ? Thx
polmont 30. sep. kl. 13:34
Completely corrupted my savefile. Crashing on the same date every time. Disabling mod makes save un-openable.
Stephince 30. sep. kl. 8:04
Thanks as always for your amazing work.
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 30. sep. kl. 1:00
@Archivist Gotcha!
Archivist77 30. sep. kl. 0:43
Thanks o7
Archivist77 30. sep. kl. 0:42
Thank you so much!

I had you friended but I made my steam fully private a few weeks ago.

I would like to refriend you as that was a mistake xD

I will add you and RICE flavor pack to the Attributed Credits database.
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 30. sep. kl. 0:35
RICE has been officially updated to patch 1.17/Coronations, along with its biggest flagship flavor pack ever - Nubia: Heirs of Kush! Thanks all for your patience.

Besides that, I've also uploaded a new mini-mod called More East African Clothing Variety, check it out here: Vanilla Version | EPE Version
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 29. sep. kl. 23:14
@Archivist77: Yes, please feel free to make use of what you need!

@太初龙之魂 Probably not in the near term since I hope to do Mayo sometime soon for Ireland, but I do want to do more flavor packs for the British Isles and Celtic regions in the far future.
太初龙之魂 29. sep. kl. 22:12
Will there be a Welsh update in the future?
Archivist77 29. sep. kl. 22:06
@cybrxkhan

Hi, can the EU5: Extended Timeline team implement content from this mod accredited, thank you for any answer!

I am a big fan of of your work all the way back to 2012 when it started
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 26. sep. kl. 18:00
@cuomo860 Ok, I see what you mean now. It seems like interestingly they're preventing AI from doing any other activity unless they crown themselves, so it's nothing necessarily game-breaking per se if it's not added into modded activities, though it looks like a pretty simple trigger so shouldn't be a hassle to add. I'm not sure the logic behind it since the Coronations Activity already is coded for the AI to be much more likely to do if they meet the requirements, but eh
cuomo860 26. sep. kl. 5:41
Yeah, there’s just specific coding for the Coronation activity in the other activities. It looks to me that the DLC prevents you from actually doing “ruler” activities if you aren’t a Crowned Ruler yet.
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 25. sep. kl. 22:39
@cuomo860 Do you mean just the requirement that you aren't doing another activity? If you're talking about that one it has been around in some form or another for a while and doesn't refer to a specific activity, thankfully.

@arisalh108 I am hoping for an update in the next week or two. However, most people who've tried seem to run the current version of RICE okay with 1.17 without major issues. Try running with only RICE and no other mods, not even cosmetic mods, and seeing if that helps. (Though keep in mind once the update's out it will not be savegame compatible.)
arisalh108 25. sep. kl. 12:47
please update, it will crash when I wnat to play with EPE and CFP
cuomo860 25. sep. kl. 7:18
I think the only other issue is that the DLC requires a block to activities so the acrivity doesn’t override the Coronation. Personally, I just don’t run the DLC.
Edgestylez 24. sep. kl. 22:21
@cybrxkhan Okay, thanks for the info!!
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 24. sep. kl. 21:51
@leonpol No prob, thanks!

@Edgestylez From what I've heard, people have been able to run the mod okay without an official update, the only known bug being that RICE's new religions won't get a coronation doctrine, so you might be able to run it, though do so at your own risk as it's possible there are bugs that don't show up properly so I can't guarantee it'll be fine. However, when I put out the official update to 1.17 along with the Nubia Flavor Pack (hopefully in a week or two), it will not be compatible with old saves, so do keep that in mind. Though you can always use the manual install of older versions of the mod to continue an old save.
carterbrown2u 24. sep. kl. 21:09
i have been playing with 1.17.1
leonpoi 24. sep. kl. 6:46
@ cybrxkhan - I appreciate the time to respond and it's all well understood. Great mod.
Edgestylez 24. sep. kl. 0:34
Hey :-) Really like the mod. Sorry if this was asked before: can I play this mod with 1.17 or do I have to wait until this mod is updated to it?
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 23. sep. kl. 17:59
@leopol Generally I try to ensure RICE content does not require any DLC, so nothing is DLC locked that isn't already DLC locked (i.e., if I change a realm to start with Admin gov't, you won't be able to play that without Roads to Power obviously). There are a few random things that interact with the DLCs, for instance there are a few events that only happen in a royal court, or there are some special modifiers you can get in some decisions if you're in certain phases of vanilla's struggles, but nothing major overall. I still like the flavor pack DLCs nonetheless, I generally lean on viewing them positively since they do add a lot of good flavor to make those regions unique, so they can help complement what RICE adds and vice versa.
leonpoi 23. sep. kl. 1:28
A subjective question if you will. I don't own the Iberia or Iran DLC or Khans or friends and foes (I own the other DLC). From what I can see the reviews of those are a bit mixed with some people saying the game is better without them. BUT - is there some cool compatibility or extra things from RICE that I'm missing by not having them?
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 22. sep. kl. 21:15
@G-Unit: Both Tajik and Khorasani are valid terms for the CK3 time period, though with different nuances. However, some researchers/modders previously suggested me to rename it to avoid confusion/conflation with the modern Tajik ethnicity.

@IronSightKid Usually when something like that happens it's due to an issue with a graphics mod, or a mod incompatibility. Try with *only* RICE running and no other mods on a completely new game and see if that helps.
IronSightKid 22. sep. kl. 16:03
Hey im having an issue with icelanders only having rags after the update. Just thought you might wanna know.
ZigingZagers 22. sep. kl. 12:54
question, why is Tajik culture renamed to Khorasani? or is there a decision to form tajiks or some event like with Russ in 867? or any historical reason?
G-Unit 20. sep. kl. 9:25
im really looking forward to the Nubia update, honestly more then AUH
Raydox 20. sep. kl. 5:56
please update
cybrxkhan  [ophavsmand] 11. sep. kl. 23:45
@Lettius Thanks for the heads up on that, that should be easy enough to update to and it seems like a non-gamebreaking bug thankfully

@DirtyT @leonpol Yeah generally if you're a veteran mod user you kind of have an idea of what might work and what might not work with an update, and you're more aware of running things at your own risk . I usually just default to recommending caution since not everyone's a mod veteran to avoid getting spammed with false alarm bug reports from people not realizing the mod isn't fully up to date yet lol.
leonpoi 11. sep. kl. 3:49
lol. Me too. If I might have to start a new save anyway due to changes - I may as well just keep playing through updates and patches and hope for the best. I played for 2 or so hours today - seemed all good to me!
DirtyT 10. sep. kl. 8:12
At some point you gotta just run it without the update and see what happens lol. If you only waited for all your mods to be up to date you'd literally only be able to play the game for like 6 months out of the year. I played a few hours without seeing any big issues so thats good to go for me until an official update.
Lettius 10. sep. kl. 3:52
The only thing that came to mind if this mod were to have problems with the new DLC is the religions added by the mod because the new DLC added a new clergy doctrine with coronation traditions. I loaded up the game with only the DLC and mod to see what happens and from what I seen all it does is remove that doctrine from only the religions that were added by the mod (making the space that the coronation tradition doctrine was using blank), if I were to guess it's on no anointment by default and I am doubtful it's anything game breaking (forgive me if I am wrong). I am disabling the Coronations DLC regardless though because it's a buggy mess and kind of a let down if you ask me personally.
