Why change Brazil's icon? The official one was way more recognizable, especially if you never played Civ 5 (which I assume is where you got the one in this mod from/based it on)

Is there a way to swap certain icons from the base mod to the lite one?, I love all the lite icons but Babylon's default icon is a bit too silly for me and I prefer the base mod's version of Babylon's icon.

Total War Attila somewhat solves the religious aspect by showing Western Roman Empire with an eagle on red background - not Christian but still used by Romans centuries after their conversion to Christianity - and Eastern Roman Empire with a two-headed eagle on purple background - most likely not even Roman in origin but adopted by Romans as hereditary archaic Asian (Trojan?) symbol of state power, most likely without Romans even knowing the exact meaning Trojans/Hittites intended behind the picture

on the other hand Jadwiga literally talks about Lord God to the player even if her civilisation doesn't know the concept of a deity yet so I guess concerning yourself with the principle of only using religion-independent iconography is useless because the leaders ruin the immersion themselves as soon as they start talking, so yeah. Eagle of Zeus is indeed pretty much the Ancient Greek equivalent of the pigeon in Christianity or the crescent in Carthaginian culture but it's probably the only cultural image both Athens and Sparta could be easily associated with

This is indeed a problem with those, as sometimes it's extremely tough to separate a historical pre-modern civ from their faith system or mythology - at least for states that didn't have robust familial or secular state heraldry to draw inspiration from.

-non-Zoroastrian symbol for ancient Persia? You end up with non-descript scimitars in Civ 4/5.
-symbols of Arabia? most cool looking calligraphy and architectural symbols are Islamic.
-'barbarian' civs? most material artifacts are invariably related to their myths and deities.

(wouldn't the Eagle of Zeus *technically* be a religious symbol too? ;p it's a great idea though!)

It's a bit of a swamp to try and avoid religious symbolism when choosing symbols for civs, particularly when the object is to also keep them immediately recognizable and easily associable with the civ in question. Nonetheless it could be a very interesting deep dive to try and make such a neutral, leader-appropriate take on civ icons some day.

P. P. S. also there's the problem with many if not most icons being pretty much direct references to the faction's real life religion - seeing Buddhist 'Byzantium' (whole other topic - this entire civ should've been just a new leader for Rome really) with the Christogram as its icon is so odd

Sadly last time I tried separating them, both Greeces still used the same icon. The system is specified on a per-civ basis, not per-leader. It would work for civs that only have one 'official' leader of course.

I might give it a stab in the future, but for the time being my modding for VI is complete unless problems show up.

next up: change all colours and icons to leader-accurate ones e. g. club on crimson background for Gorgo, owl on white background for Pericles, Mitsuuroko on blue background for Tokimune etc. (not sure blue Hojo is authentic though)

- tweaked size and spacing of shields in Portugal's icon
- slightly tweaked Mogadishu icon

@janboruta Portugal's icon needs some serious improvement, hope you come back to update this.

I personally like the vanilla icon quite a lot and wanted to keep it in the lite version.

Thanks and I hear you! Mexico and Jerusalem alongside many others are just my personal preferences, but with the Cree, the problem seems to be that the vanilla symbol is more reflective of the art of Pacific Northwest tribes rather than more eastern Cree.

I actually liked Mexico City's, Jerusalem's and the Cree's Icon but overall they're great!

Thank you for lite version, I have been waiting for this. Now we can tell the Canadians to use this one, lol.
