The blue lamps tell you how much water is in each tank

That is a variable ballast system. The ship has 3 tanks that can be used at ballast tanks, but 2 of them are active by default. The third tank can be turned on and off to increase dive speed. The neutral bouyancy of the Valencia is .51 with 2 tanks, but drops to ,35 when the third tank is active (meaning it will sink very quickly and rise slowly). This system was designed to help the Valencia combat currents. The system also allows for manual emptying of a tank in emergencies (like ballast flora) and to cut power to the tank (for ballast flora). There is an issue where the 3rd tank starts with water in it despite the tank being "off" by default.

I still did not understand what the buttons and lamps on the left of the control panel are responsible for.
As I understand it, it is responsible for the ballast.
is this the stealth system ?

I did a quick test run and had no issues today on a multiplayer server with bots (and had the hull pierced... Bot shot a danger close nuclear shell). Once I loaded in, there were no FPS issues.

The Valencia doesn't have many shadow casting lights. I think 34 in total? 6 of which are the guns. As I said before, it's strange because another sub I am making is significantly larger and yet doesn't have the FPS issues.

Unfortunately, I am going to be very busy for the next week (or so) and I am unsure as to when I can get to releasing draft 2 of the Valencia. Please have patience with me. I am tracking all bugs and issues. :cozyspaceengineersc:

Also: there is an unfinished "stealth mode" system on the Nav Terminal. It cuts engine force by 80%. It makes the sub run "silent" if you turn off the reactor as well.

In Valencia, I saw the FPS drop, and this can be seen on the video when the hull was pierced and water got into the boat....

I saw how the author of another boat writes about the fact that the shadows are calling for the fall of FPS.

I'll see what I can do to optimise it in the future, admittedly for the sake of aesthetic there are a lot of wires; the usual culprit for FPS drops to my knowledge is lighting and shadows being cast.

It's not something I can reliably test unfortunately, as I've not experienced the drops in frame rate myself.

Once again, feel free to change/remove aspects of the sub for your personal use as you see fit; if you do find the root cause for the issue, post it and I'll see what changes I can make with the feedback!

I have a larger boat in production that doesn't have nearly as many frame issues as the Valencia. I have no idea what is causing it. I will need to hit the discord for answers, but it is going to be a few days before I have the time.

I don't think there are that many lighting and shadow casting lights, but I will check them when I can.

The engine power was changed drastically. The original Valencia had an engine force of over 2500, and the new one has a force around 1750.

The ascending/descending speed is set by the level of ballast. The larger water pan at the bottom is slower to fill and that can cause the sub to feel "slower" when going up and down. This is a known thing -- whether or not I can make a good fix for it is yet to be seen.

I also couldn't help but notice the drop in the speed of the boat.
Have you changed the engine power?

And the rate of immersion of the ascent ?

for the test and boat selection, I downloaded a lot of boats.

Some did not have a drop in frames.

And some always slowed down.

I think it depends on the textures or the models used or the lighting or shadows.

But I have not seen teleportation and door jamming on other boats

During the test runs, I also noticed the FPS drop and rubberbanding. I am not sure what could be causing it, but I have it written down in my notes to look into. I thought it was just me having issues, but if you are as well, then I will see what I can do to remedy it.

Thank you for the work done.

For nps, no sticking, and other failures were noticed.

Special thanks for the increase in the lower ballast compartment, nps do not get stuck in it.

There were problems with the doors, they constantly click me.
The video shows.

Also, despite a fairly powerful computer, sometimes the FPS drops sharply, especially when water is poured into the boat

Teleportations of me and nps were also noticed in Valencia.
I was being thrown back like a big "ping"...

The original Valencia is still available in this update. It is known as the Valencia Type-B in the mod file. The retrofit is just titled "Valencia". It is classified as a Deep Diver because I want it to be usable to the very end of the campaign.

I am currently doing the wiring, which is the last major hurdle. Once that is done, I will do a couple of runs with it to smooth out any major bugs, and then I will update this page!

I am currently looking at doing a complete retrofit/overhaul. I have some notes from when my crew last played the Valencia that I need to incorporate, plus other information I have learned since I made this sub. I have time today to work on it, so I am hoping to make a lot of progress.

The Valencia was not originally tested with bots, as it was designed and tested with a full crew of humans playing. The underside ballast is hard to reach because it is supposed to be a "water pan" and drain water from other sections into it. This was a design flaw that we noted and left in the final draft of the ship. The way to access the pan is to crouch and then close the hatch above you. The AI will not do this.

The paths are badly broken.

The front ballast compartment is difficult to access for NPCs.

I had problems too.

Perhaps there are fewer edits needed in Valencia, if you fix it first it will be wonderful.

I would like to see at least 1 bomb launcher on Valencia, but I didn't see a place for it.

And the skipjack does not have enough electric discharge on the body

Valencia is the best submarine of all that I have met here.

My friends and I are not very experienced, and this submarine gives us more chances and compensates for our shortcomings.

+ it is very well made by itself.

The only thing missing is gas masks all over the boat, the NPCs grab deep-sea suits instead of masks...
and then scatter them all over the boat...

I noticed that on both boats the NPCs are trying to fix something through the walls and rest their foreheads against them.

This is mainly seen in the ballast compartments

The electrical issues you noted is due to that I have not done an update on this submarine since at least 2 major updates ago. The ingame electrical system has been slightly redone and I will need to address this. The waypoint system needs to be redone.

1) when leaving the engine compartment, they often become stupid NPCs.

2) when problems arise in the ballast compartment and repairs are required, it is impossible for the NPS to access it from the engine compartment and from the reactor compartment...

To the right and left, they knock on the walls of the ballast compartment and cannot pass.

Yeah, I noticed it worked and spawned as boxes on multiplayer, but I can almost swear I didn't see them show up on singleplayer, might just be bad luck on my end. xD

I checked the submarine layout. The cargo should be spawning in the utility room, by the fabricator and the welding fuel tanks. Technically, the cargo should drop on the ground in the form of large boxes. I can't seem to figure out a way to have them automatically store in cabinets yet.

The ship needs to be overhauled for the new updates, so these things are on my to-do list.

Bought items should go in the nose section. I have not had a chance to update the to the most current patches, so there is a chance that this is no longer the case.

We have a pretty dedicated crew that simultaneously function extremely well together but are also prone to ... traitorous actions without the traitor system even being on. They do this under the guise of "risk assessment". No one gets shot in the end, but I do deeply feel the "oh god that was a nuke, wasn't it" feeling all too well.

I've had some dude nuke a hammerhead. I ended up shooting him to death and half the server was pissy at him, I can relate to that on a spiritual level.

It really depends on your crew, so I will give you a few examples of things we have done:

MOLOCH:
NOT RECOMMENDED: Fire short range nuclear railgun round and irradiated half of the ship in one go. Did kill it.
RECOMMENDED: Use railgun to pierce outer shell and then follow up with coilgunners hitting the flesh.

HAMMERHEAD:
NOT RECOMMENDED: Fire nuclear railgun round into the swarm. So beautiful. So deadly.
RECOMMENDED: Get gunners to lay down covering fire while the captain keeps the hammerheads from shoving the ship against walls. Best option to try to dive and lay against the ground.

ALSO: The Valencia can outrun non-gold Hammerheads. We had a captain who's entire thing was to just outrun monsters. It does work, as long as the passageway doesn't change direction rapidly.
