Tested it in 2025, it works better than expected but is incompatible with Anomaly for some reason.

This mod is kinda dead until I finish cleaning it up. There is new and better stuff on the animals module, so I suggest people subscribe to that for now.

@TurtleShroom: I did see your comment. I do plan to look at re-balancing the plants at some point, but the animals are my first priority. Changing the Dusk Cap to yield raw fungus would take a little more effort than I think it is worth.
Speaking of which, I just got a "Morbs arrive" event to work. Now Morbs won't randomly show up and stop all animals from arriving at the map. I'll add it in the next update.

Right now Morbs are a real menace, so I'm figuring out how to make them come in an event. I can get to other stuff soon-ish.

I am only interested in animals and Wheezewort (A Wheezewort version only, but maybe it's too much to ask too). Maybe ore duplication with other mods & the plants and food, I already have enough with VCE/VPE (A patch for them eventually)

IIRC, there is a class of food called Raw Fungus, or something like that, in the game. I may be wrong, though. If there is, you should consider having those mushrooms spawn that instead of a "generic" Mushroom that stands out against other plants.

@Fluffysminion sure; I'll do it in a few hours from now. I meant to update all the defNames to have an `OxR_` in front of them. Maybe I missed one or never released it.

Note to anybody actually using this mod: If I change defNames, said item/animal might vanish and throw an error. That might happen. Sorry in advance.

Hey, I was working on a compatibility patch for this and VFE Simple Tofu and I've got stuck since both mods use Tofu as a defName so I can't rename/remove/replace the duplicate recipes, would it be possible to rename your defs to make patching easier?

@Dødens sjel: Thank you! I just fixed shove voles, and yes, I agree, morbs are annoying. I'll lower their spawn rate (again) in the next patch, and when I can get the right software to work, I'll make the morb similar to alphabeavers. Expect a patch in a soon-ish.

Currently all that I think needs to be changed is make Shove Voles need only half as much food so they dont starve when they sleep, and maybe make the Morbs spawn as a event or if you cant make it so they cant spawn when the game is loaded (if this isnt possible its ok, i dont know the limits of modding) because i have had them spawn almost first thing and as a result only 3 animals (2 megasloths and said Morb) when a map loaded, but otherwise its perfect the way it is, no compatability issues either from my 180+ mods in the game

@Dødens sjel: The current plan is to halve the food requirement so that the shove vole is somewhat closer to meat positive. I'm doing my best to make all animals more balanced, so any advice is welcome :)

its easy to get anything when you can call the custom trader from a certain mod with like a 100% markup, but thank for letting me know, and mabye just half the hunger drain because they starve when they sleep and just 5 seem to be able to eat all the grass bushes and other things in the jungle very quickly

@Dødens sjel: Currently Shove Voles eat 4.8 times as much as a human. Originally, I planned to make it eat rocks, but it was harder than I thought to make animals eat rocks. They do eat an very large amount of dirt/regolith in ONI, but it is I understand what you mean. This will likely be changed in the patch I release in a few weeks, but for now you can consider it a feature.
(Also, props to you for getting a shove vole in the game, I have yet to do that in testing since they are so rare)

@Spectre Incarnate: No, I don't think so. Keep in mind there are only 4 plants that are exclusively wild plants, so there will be plenty to see in modded biomes in the way of plants.
As I get better at modding I'll start adding more and more compatibility to this mod.

@jmthreatt: I get that it is a little difficult to understand how the meat works for the critters I added, but basically, meats are hardcoded into the game in a way that I currently don't know how to change. My workaround was setting the meat amount to zero and creating genetic ooze meat, which is similar to meat in every way except that it cannot be cooked as part of a normal meal. Instead, you must research grilling so it can be used to craft barbecue, which uses genetic ooze meat as an ingredient. The game creates hatch meat etc. automatically, so I have no real way of getting rid of it. It is also worth noting that genetic ooze meat does not provide a mood debuff for being raw, so it balances out.

I love this. The critters are adorable and I love that you need boys and girls for them to make eggs. I did encounter a small problem. I don't know if this happens with all the land critters but when I butchered a hatch i got "genetic ooze meat" instead of hatch meat and o I couldn't cook it into anything.

Other than that this is amazing for being done in only a month. My 2 favorite games are ONI and Rimworld so seing this was really exciting. Good luck getting everything you want to do with this done.

When I think the mod is balanced/good enough, I might update the name, but for now I want to focus on fixing any problems and maybe trying out CE patch.
