I haz this train and have been keeping it maintained for my own use. I just did a test on it pulling a consist of 3 HUUUGE coal hoppers. It had an utterly freaky issue where it was slipping with only its front trucks while the rear were gripping normally. (completely overhauled traction assemblies) I did a slow roll test and the front was reading 0.197 RPS on the traction motor and the rear was reading 0.180, meaning the front had more mechanical advantage over the wheel sets and therefore was slipping, even though the gearing was identical, ARGH!!!

Gawd DAYUM this needs to be modernised, please! Its such a good vehicle but it just doesnt work any more :(

I feel like fixing some things on this locomotive, for example modernizing the bogeys (And make the bogey sets on a single pivot instead of all of the bogeys rotating on their own, as to presumably help with stability.)

Have i seen this somewhere else?

@kev4ev I see. Unfortunately I'm not very skilled at putting things together in this game so chances are I'll screw it up somehow. I'll look for the U30 to see what that guy did and somehow try to replicate it.

ExodusGravemind, the suspension issue of this creation is old. Read my comment below.

This has always been my go-to locomotive for missions but now it wobbles so much it hits the ground, I'm guessing an update broke the suspension?

1. weight distribution on this thing is important, removing some batteries from the rear moved the center of mass forward and lightened it, making it perform much better. Now that modular engines have been fixed, I converted this one to modular so it's nolonger underpowered. Having nasty problems with the speed control tho. There is a new parameter on PIDs that should be calebrated, using a value of 0.6 and it runs pretty decent with tuned parameters...

how to fix the wobble in this awesome creation: make the suspension in the same way as The Yoted One did in his new 8 axis loco U30C - one pivot per 4 axis (per two boggies) with four limiter blocks at each pivot (I've tested your HL694 that way, success!)

What system is used to operate the master/slave system? I want to make a cab car to control from the other end of train.

The third engine is weighing down the train, as the moment I detatched it the train went from 150 to fastly approaching 200. (I then had to stop due to a unrelated fire)

I think it only works with 2, as when I pressed the E break only 2 or the 3 (the rear 2 being slaves) actually had the E-Lights light up. I will do more testing. (also you spelled "double" as "doble")

All slaves should be driven by master engine. Theoraticly.... ))) Never checked that. But the system works via composites, so when you press slave button engine is using info from composite line not onboard controls.

Ok so I switch on "slave" to have a second engine be controlled by a first engine...
Could 1 engine have more then 1 "slave"?

I tried to do that and it still made the front truck break when swapping tracks. Plus it made the train unstable at speed

yeah, it's a mechanical issue with the undercarrage, have to replace that with a pivoting assembly. I have a reworked version of this with that change...

Anyone able to tell me how to make it not get stuck when swapping tracks?

Yep, the bed is very anoying... and I could not make reverse to work.

yeah, 10/10 on the looks department. Undernieth it's a different story. It fails the track 4 test (roll out past second switch then reverse to shunt onto track 4...) I fixed that with a pivoting double truck assembly so now it's basically working as far as that goes. It has many times more batteries than it could possibly need. I started converting it to my preferred generator setup by stripping out 3 generators and one of the gearboxes. I removed half the electronics from the engine room and now it is running in a way that makes sense to me. The thing just has an overwhelmingly huge amounts of floating logic, unfortunately you can't really comment designs built that way so I'm kinda lost working on the thing. Still, it does run respectably well even if there is room to improve the electronics.

oh, it have 9600 liters of fuel, an max consumption up to 2000 liters per 100 km, so it will be enought for about 4 trips to the arctic and back

only reason i say that is it comes in handy when taking trips up north. can have a fuel tanker behind the locos and fuel share so they dont run out

the fuel shearing can be done, but dont see much sense. while double heading - locomotives are guided by same numbers an have joined electrical system.
