Still had that bug with being able to get endless karma with Simon after I've done the first recruitment run. I think the dialogues could be fleshed out a bit more to add more atmosphere even though I appreciate there not being endless screens to click through just for the sake of it.
This mod's beginning is incredible. I really, really am interested in the rest of the story. I hope it is long and full of options and sandbox style missions to take!
It would be even better if there was some sort of randomizer too to play continuous missions like SR Unlimited mod does in Dragonfall. Earn money and resources and stuff to fortify your little corner of the Barrens, get security, defend against attacks, have random missions to get resources or make contacts. The set up you have here is screaming for ongoing story and I'm just waiting now for it... :D
I hadn't decided how to approach this when I released this, but have put a fix in for when the next part is launched that means you should be able to start with a few adept abilities.
The next part ready to go, but I have a bug that is game breaking. It will be released as soon as that is fixed and it's all been tested.
Well, that's not wrong. One of the reasons rent is so low there is because Simon expects the residents to chip in and help out in the area, like growing food in the greenhouses, strict laundry rotas, and so on.
You're also right about the 'nearly abandoned' part. The Wedge does have a local population, but it is a small one, and several of them live in the caravans, rather than the apartments.
Although I will admit that the lack of bathrooms was more down to me not being able to get them to fit in the map properly. The next release, Wedge inhabitants have their own bathrooms, and basic cooking facilities in their apartments.
There is still a lack of washing machines. Maybe Simon will have the runners pick some up.
For anyone who's wondering (probably nobody), the Wedge is offering a lifestyle bargain. Most runners can't get digs as fancy as a rusted hulk of a freighter moored near a variety of useful shops; just having a roof over your head with strictly rationed water and electricity usually costs double what the protagonist is asked. Granted, food is usually part of that lifestyle cost.. but it's still low enough to suggest that there are issues (like the lack of bathrooms) or someone's trying to secure your presence because it works into his schemes.
Hopefully the extract target needs a place to hang his hat too!
When you return from Paul with the Chip, you can do the 'hand over chip and get paid' conversation over and over indefinitely. For unlimited cash.
Adding some proper walls and corners would make it feel more polished as well.
Maybe add a decor option, as something to spend some money on? Not necessarily an individual.component customization, but a theme you can buy? Think fallout 3 safehouses. "Order sci-fi theme, or wasteland theme, or science theme". Something to make it feel "yours"
A tip for new players: do the drone part mission first, nets you guns, a deck, a drone and a fair amount of money if you have the right skills.
