update on how this item works in repentance: it does not allow you to enter devil rooms generated by red key, but if there is an ultra secret room attached to that devil room, it will teleport you to the ultra secret room

nvm sorry, turns out my game just hates that mod and i have to have a very specific few mods on for it to work because one of the other mods is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with it just by being installed

This item can be detrimental due to what I assume is an oversight. It does not prevent Devil Rooms from spawning, but it doesn't allow the the player to enter them. It made it impossible to acess Angel Rooms for me when I got this item on 1st floor.

If you take any devil deal, the restraining order won't appear. And even if you blow up the statue then pick up a deal, the restraining order will disappear before you can pick it up.

It only works for me if I'm playing as isaac (else I don't receive the soul hearts etc) and half of the time it doesn't function correctly anyway

This item is really good, but I feel like it'd be a lot more interesting if it could still spawn even if you had taken a devil deal. Maybe even allow it to override the devil precedent, so you can still get Angel Rooms even if you've taken a devil deal. The whole idea is be like you're saying no to the devil forever, and christianity is about forgiveness and stuff, so I think it'd make sense. Perhaps the benefit could be lowered to compensate for that.

It sounds like he's saying that Restraining Order counted as a Devil Deal, which has never happened to me, but...

Are you saying you got a devil deal then Restraining Order, or the other way around? Because neither of those should be possible (unless you got a devil deal through other means, like the black market).

when i grabbed it, it caused my angel room chance to go to zero because i picked up an item in a devil room so i had to give myself duality so i could get angel rooms please fix this

Nope, nothing like that.

I'll look into it, but I don't see how it could mess up. Did you pay out a demon beggar on that floor (pay until it gives an item and leaves)? Because if you did that, there's a 10% chance that a devil room will spawn regardless of the angel room chance.

I know you said it was just a coincidence, but are you 100% sure it's coded correctly?

Just a coincidence, all this does is turn on flags that increase Angel room chance.

I don't know if it's a coincidence or what, but even though it says I have a higher angel chance, I seem to get less deals overall, and lower appearance of Gift of God rooms in particular.

Alright, here's what I did: I changed the consumable amounts to +3 of everything and +32.5% Angel room chance as I said in my previous comment, but I also added Mod Config Menu support so you can change the consumable amounts to whatever you want. Also, I decided to keep the current name since I don't want to mess with changing the name of the mod itself within Steam (and it's not really a big deal).

i think a way to balance it would that it raise your chance of an angel room and give you 2 soul hearts and thats it. nothing too op you have an item you know you can access in the early game it can be good or not. youll know in the next basements. if you give all that stuff i dont think it twice. i pick it up cause i lose nothing and gain a lot. that my idea though. as always the author is the one who has the final word, if you dont like it, do it yourself or suck it.

I’m seeing a lot of different ideas for what should be done to balance this. How about:

+3 coins, +3 bombs, +3 keys, +3 soul hearts, and +32.5% Angel room chance (32.5% because Angel room chance is increased in mods by setting pre-existing flags, so I can’t do exactly 30%)

This would greatly reduce the amount of consumables while still giving you some, and also giving more soul hearts and a slightly higher Angel room chance than before. As an added bonus, it also fits the Biblical theme of things coming in threes. Also, I agree that Abstinence would be a better name, so I might also change that. I thought “abstinence” specifically meant avoiding sex, but it can actually mean refraining from a variety of sinful or degenerate acts.

good item, the consumables are way too much, but still great item

I love the concept, however, the payoff isn't incentive enough in my opinion - perhaps something more along the lines of an increased angel chance, no consumables, but maybe a substantial damage up. If your consumables are already set, there's very little reason to grab the item

Nice mod! Although, as for balance I think the item should drop like 3 soul hearts and have the angel room chance, but no coins, bombs and keys.

it would be cool if blowing up the devil statue made you fight the devil (like the 2nd phase of the satan fight) because then its like your fighting the statue just like you do when blowing up angel rooms

Thanks, both of you! As for buffing it: I tested it in a few runs yesterday and I think I'll just keep it as-is. It's a situational item for sure, but it's great when you have no keys (or other things) on a floor with an unopened treasure room and shop, and you suddenly go from no keys to all the keys you need for the next few floors. That with the +20 coins made one of my runs way better than it would have been otherwise.

This is excellent, especially when going for key pieces, and I love the idea of blowing up the devil statue idea similar to blowing up the angel statue. Great mod!

No, it only spawns from the statue in Devil rooms. But I might update it to also spawn from other devil statues (I think one of those statues can appear in I AM ERROR rooms?).

Hmm, interesting. I don’t want to add devil deals (the whole idea is to stay away from devil deals and devil-related items, more or less), but maybe angel rooms could have a chance of spawning an additional item? I’ll keep thinking.

maybe have an incredibly rare chance to spawn a random devil deal per angel deal. Not very sure if this would balance it though. maybe have a select amount of good items and it happens even rarer?

I know giving up devil deals is a big trade-off, so let me know if you have any balancing recommendations!
