Traders struggle to get to you, lucky if 1 makes it every 5 years(until you can bridge to side/map edge land), Rhino/mammoth wave attacks are a god send due to no animals.
Bridges are too short to make it from shallow to shallow to central isle, have to go around which is a whole season walk one way. Too many die making the bridges to get to animal filled islands, more die just walking there and back.
Opened sheep domestication, still yet to see an animal other than mammoth bison rhino and cave lion.
All this on normal(no raiders..) cant imagine playing hardcore on this location.
on the plus side there are more ores and stone than one can shake a fist at, if your prepared for the hike.. and deaths.. lots of guys do the work.. drag it some of the way back and die.
one more thing, not enough predators for cruel rulers like me.. idiot villagers refusing my input need fed to the hungry wolves and lions.
Also, for some reason the Cereal crops can not be planted more than 1 time. Every field I put down is only planted and harvested one time and then stops working.
To survive your first year immediately: Send all 4 spears to hunt the 2 nearby docile animals. The rest gather sticks and start constructing skins dryers and a tent. Before winter you will need 5 tents and a working crafter before the first animal attack.
These frustrations are a challenge that actually makes the game fun. Thanks for making this. I hope to see more like it soon!
Not enough river crossings, so sled traders get stuck not able to reach the settlement.
Seems the entire map has less than a handful of mines.
The animal distribution heavily favors big animals, except for bears, the map doesn't seem to have a single bear anywhere, also I found this GIGANTIC mamoth herd that seemed to be like predators and randomly attacked with no provocation.
The group was so big that I lost a lot of people fighting them and then all the bodies decayed before I could harvest, not that it matters, the raw skin decays so fast that you can't handle 10-20 without loosing most to decay.
On the wetlands one i had trouble making bridges.the island just to the south of the starting island. it comes to a sharp point and my people were walking off to the east with a log and dropping it. the funny thing was the 30 traders that were trying to reach my settlement with their sledges. the fishing is GREAT. When i was low on skins a Mammoth attack or Whooly Rhinos would storm the settlement and fill me up again. Anyone know how to make LONGER BRIDGES by chance. id love to have a mod that lets ya span across a lake. Thanks again. i may check out the other maps soon
I also found a glitch at the fork of the river where all the traders kept looping back and forth as if unable to cross. I eventually constructed bridges and then about 10 traders came into my camp all at once. There after they did space themselves out.
Other than mining issues, these are great maps, challenging and quite abundant in wildlife!
Well done Ph !!
I love the Wolly Rhino attacks, they can nearly wipe out the entire camp.. but sure do provide a lot of meat and resources if you can beat them back.
Raiders haven't attacked me yet tho. Have they been disabled?
I don't know what all is possible. Are you able to add other settings than just Normal and Hardcore? You could do multiple start options/ difficulties
Since mining is so rare, I was able to get to the point where after flint nearby ran out, I was able to buy or loot off raiders all the metal or tools I needed.
Winter could be made a lot harder to up the challenge, the Mammoth/Rhino/Wolf attacks were a good battle though.
