Hi FWM|L|HuntertheWolf,
Here is a link to my video Guide File for MOWAS2 from 3 years ago. It is based in the same gem editor. Much of it is still very relevent to CTA, especially to those new to mapping and mission making.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=667217484

And, I'm not targeting most players. I'm targeting the small but growing modding community. Many of whom are on my friends list.

A similar video guide is in the plans for CTA. It will feature these "Editor Gems" mods and how to use their features to shortcut building missions.

I also have many other commitments and responsibilities. This is something I do with my downtime for my own enjoyment.

hey bud make a youtube video and dockets to help map makers i feel like making mods like this is semi counter as the map makers wont know how to fix things or design things most players dont know how to make maps because its hard to find any videos to help you with it i found out how to but it took me some time to find any help

Needless to say experimenting with new units is far easier... how do I attack xyx location with abc.
Another bonus of cheats mod is ammo resupply. Most missions are generous with resupply. but to me its unnecessary micromanagement. Why shepherd truck after truck to where you want it when I would rather be having fun in the actual game.
Even something as basic as extra MP/CP helps the first time or two .. the next runthru you cheat less ...
Cheats give balance/enjoyment to the individuals comfort point.
My 2c anyway : )

I think it would. Its not like people go massive on cheating every game. There is absolutely no fun in this. People cheat up to the point that makes the game fun for them, everyone has a different point. Sometimes it just depends on your mood. Most my games I max out stamina & fuel. To me these are micro management time wasters. I'll also spawn in tankies to man my captured vehicles if there isn't a specific tank crew reinforcement button, i'll replace units if the GUI response lost me an important unit rather than my tactics.

Hmmm, personally I despise the idea of a cheat mod. As a mission maker I put a lot of thought, time and energy into creating a challenge for the player to work through. The idea that someone could simply cheat their way to victory doesn't sit well with me.

HOWEVER, if i was lead to believe that a cheat mod would entice some people to purchase a copy of the game, this would be reason enough for me to consider making one.

PS .. if your work encourages more modding then belay my last .. I would rather an influx of new modders to give this game some life.
biggles2 22. feb. 2019 kl. 16:14
damn ... at least I understand now .. and others reading this.
You really do want to make a cheatsmod for CtA don't you :)

If I remember right the cheat mod just puts the unit where you click. This is intended to be used in a broader mission concept.

It will pay to open the mission file on the map you want to put it onto, to position the elements/objects. Once you add the ; symbol at the beginning and end of the .mi file. You won't be able to load it in the editor. These ; symbols are needed to "include" the file. So be aware you may have to edit the text back and forth to load it in the editor to position the few elements/objects.

^^^ This bit ... my little mind boggles. Won't know till I try it out I suppose.
I was imagining a cheatsmod kind of thing, a menu is added and I get to add reinforcement where/when I want in game .. I have never worked out the editor .. Gives me a challenge I suppose.

what's up?
Tjdagger  [ophavsmand] 22. feb. 2019 kl. 16:00
Sweet, let me know if you encounter any issues. I'll be updating both those files soon, just adding some diplomacy stuff. It won't effect what your doing, it's just to support compatibility with the other editor gems I'm putting together in this "include" format for mission making.
biggles2 22. feb. 2019 kl. 15:56
oooo, maybe not lol ..
biggles2 22. feb. 2019 kl. 15:55
excellent, thanks ... I already do this for cheatsmod to work in missions so sometime this weekend I'll give it a go.

Hi biggles2, it should work... go for it, you basically got yourself a cheat mod here. You could combine it with the infantry one by simply adding another "include" command for it. You can add multiple scripts together.
I'm just trying to help other modders get more into content into their missions.
biggles2 22. feb. 2019 kl. 15:45
??? This is much like how "cheatsmod" includes its mod into other missions ... i think i get it.
biggles2 22. feb. 2019 kl. 15:44
hmmmmm, penny drops.. I think.
I can modify missions from modders by adding this "include command" & your infantry one into existing up to date missions ... I will give this a try.
Wish me luck as i'm sure to screw it up lol.
