Potatoes are a bit hit and miss! Nitrogen - you need a lot for fertilizer/atm etc. So yeah would probably be a good idea to add extra food somewhere.

@MGD That's so great to hear! It's awesome to know that you were able to get that far
My next plan is to add more goodies around the map for people to explore and find, and some of it will probably be intended to make it easier to get to where you got (more food, barrels, etc)

Ok - so with minutes to spare due to last of food i harvested some potatoes!! I have a 2x2 habitat cramed with hydroponics, toilet and water dispenser. Next job is to expand the habitat......
I've never done this sort of scenario but i'm enjoying it. Many thanks.

@BabyThor I had already used the Silicon/Oxygen and have been mining for the rest. 4x4 Printer a little too big so have gone for 3 in height. Hope i don't run out of food before i can make fertile soil for the potatoes!

@MGD You'll definitely need to harvest resources, and even then it will take you a while. I recommend disassembling your smaller one, and also for the lots of silicon oxide you need I recommend synthesizing some from the extra silicon you get in the printer drop with some of the oxygen you get at the start. This is what I did to get mine at least

Completed medium printer. Just started building a large 4x4x4 printer - can i achieve the large printer with resources available (barrels and synthesizer etc)? Or am i gonna have to disassemble the medium printer?

Just as an update: I've so far been pretty happy with this
I've gotten a 3.2x3.2x2.4 printer up with plenty of food and water to spare
I should be able to make an outpost soon and get my water station and stuff placed inside

I might add more hidden goodies in later versions, because a lot of people seemed to enjoy the exploration aspects of the first map
