A guy just created a standalone mod for the FU species, but without the FU mod.
Would it be possible to create a version of Better Ships for these species versions?

@Syovere - That's something I should definitely get into yeah... unfortunately I've not been doing modding for a long time, so not sure when that could happen...

I didn't install Imm's things because you create a recipe for Electrum in it and RPG Growth Also has a recipe for electrum and I didn't want to worry about incompatibilities between the two and everything I've read say that Imm's things is not "Required" but strongly recommended.

@Nilserich - Oh shoot, this is a very old comment, sorry about not getting back to you on it ^^; But for the sake of completeless, let me answer now - not really, unfortunately... In general, these Better Ships mods are not that relevant with BYOS, since they alter the ship files - ones that would be changed in favor of the BYOS ship anyway. So to use BYOS, you don't need these mods, just the "Walls" ones, which add objects and are generally compatible with anything.

@Frozium - Yup! Don't remember if you'd be able to get those in-game without cheats, but I tested it and T9/T10 ships work for FU species. Now, I don't quite remember which species are still compatible (Ones like Slime and Fenerox were added after I had to take a hiatus from modding)

FU is usually incompatible with "Tier 9 Ships". However, since your mod is compatible, does that mean I can use the three together?

I just wonder if it makes sense to use Better Ships and BOYS from FU together. Except of course that the doors are buggy.

Can I still build and install objects from this mod (like the new cockpit)?

No, not really ^^
The vanilla "Better Ships Walls" is needed, since it has base files for the Better Ships FU Walls, which in turn is needed for the FU Better Ships

The vanilla Better Ships is not really necessary for this mod to work, but it's recommended since this mod will -only- change the FU ships, not the vanilla ones.

Those were the old custom radien objects I made. Since then the xi got actual objects of their own, so mine are no longer needed ^^ for convenience sake, if you want, you can throw the objects away and spawn the new ones in admin mode. item names are

Enabling it for the kirhos would be the same process as I described in the "Adding a species" section of it, only thing to keep note of is that if I'm not mistaken the internal name for the kirhos in FU is "fukirhos" so that's what you should be using.

I love the recolor you did for the Kirhos! It was really needed haha. I just wish I could use the Protectorate ship with my Kirhos character... anyone knows how to do that?

Yup! Better Ships only affects Vanilla, while FU does the work for FU ships (or at least some of them for the time being)

As far as I can see, the only difference is the naming (you were right assuming fu version would be named "fupeglaci"). Everything else is the same

I think I'm gonna give myself the liberty to just copy and rename the files accordingly and assume their ships are the same gameplay-wise ^^;

Their ship has some quirks about upgrading, and I was actually planning on changing it a bit so that they have a more "standard" ship progression ^^
A bit messy though, do plan on doing them as well in the future.

Not anymore! ^^ But there's still an issue I haven't been able to solve, which causes the racialized BYOS ship doors and hatches to not display properly.

Next update will at least show them, but animations are still busted, I'm afraid. But outside of that, I think there should be no incompatibilities.

Ah I see, thank you for explaining. Luckily I just unlocked an upgrade to tier 2 so I would just need to install the mod and then turn in the quest

It does, but collisions will not be right until the ship file is updated. So what you'd have to do is either:
- Upgrade your ship;
- Or if you're already at the last possible stag, reset the ship. Make sure you retrieved and stored anything you don't want to lose outside of the ship, and that the character whose ship you want to reset was the last one you played; go to your "Starbound/storage/player" folder (you should see a bunch of gibberish .player and .shipworld files), sort the files by date, and delete the most recent .shipworld file, along with all .bak files associated with it.

The non-FU one will change the vanilla ships, while the FU one will change the FU ones. So they're independent from eachother, and they'll pretty much do their jobs separately, as long as the required mods for each are installed ^^

Thank you! And yeah, I managed to reproduce the problem. Thankfully I found out what was wrong - because this mod adds the radien ship objects (instead of using the hylotl ones), the SAIL was trying to bring up non-existing radien SAIL portraits when interacted with ^^;

Should be fixed now!

Okay cool, if theres anything else i can provide to help, I can. When i activate the S.A.I.L (open the UI) it boots me back to the title with an error.

This has been driving me a little crazy. Radien Ships have a broken S.A.I.L. I tried removing BYOS and deleting the .shipworld file but no dice. The only fix was to remove this mod, make a new shipworld, then use the default ship for Radien, which is a shame because I like how this one looks. I don't have any other mods that would've affected the SAIL or ship. Any ideas?

It's the normal thelusian ship from FU itself ^^ All I did was adjust a few things like mirror the bottom glowing strip thingies to th top and such.

Unfortunately, not as well. In fact, I should've mentioned I even changed the files to skip the BYOS/Default choice in the beginning on top of it ^^;

It's not that big of a loss, though, since in any case everything in Better Ships that could ever be useful for BYOS (namely the walls, objects and tiles) is in the standalone mods ^^
