when i add the mod, it will add some artificial wonder thant need 30000 production to finish it, such as Srirangam Temple or other. it's a bug?
Diocletian was... against Christianity? Shouldn't he be replaced with Constantine?

Hey! Thanks for putting this mod together.
From notes above and gameplay I know it is compatible with Religion Expanded

Any chance you could confirm compatibility with other popular mods please, ex:

C.S. Lewis would be a great one. Could be something like "Great Works of Writing give +3 Faith" or something like that!
This is a really cool mod idea. I've always felt more could be done in this viegn, like theologians and philsophers. Too really get to experience this addition we need more than 11 people. You;d be lucky to get 1. Any chance you'll be adding to this? Does it work after all the updates? And does adding this mod affect the asset allocation limit imposed be foolish Firaxis?

I'd love to see Joseph Smith added!

Hey i've added a list here of potential great believers i would like to see in the game!

Does this work since Babylon?
Interesting! It's similar with Great Theologians of JFD's Rule with Faith MOD. So Can you make a converting version of the great person type to compatible with that mod please?

One half-working solution I found is that setting the great believer buildings to be wonders prevents them from being damaged when the city containing them is captured. On the other hand, that causes building those (and, by extension, expending those great believers) to grant 4 era score.
Hi ZacNAttack, yes, this is a problem that we are still trying to figure out how to solve. Both of us have this issue as well, and it is annoying.

Hi Kerrovitarr, we plan to take a look at the believers after GS. We just have not had the time yet.
Raboot 2020
I captured a city and now it says that I can repair a Bodhi Tree, but it will take 999 turns.
If we had a time machine we could drop @Cosmic Fox into the IS caliphate for educational purposes. If he survives that then we can drop him into the Crusades for a bit. If hasn't found any fighting religious units by then I think we can leave well enough alone.
@Cosmic Fox Yes, Deon is right. A religious battle is ideological, not physical, right? So how do you depict that in the game? You abstract it. There's religious influence, but that alone is kind of boring. So the devs added something like "influential people" which are your apostles, missionaries, and inquisitors. If you frame the battle in your mind as ideological rather than physical, it makes a lot more sense.
Well, with GS release i think, some of believers should be revisited.
Diocletian should give a bit more (maybe percentile) faith from pillaging cause yelds have been buffed in GS.
Ramanuja should be reworked cause floodplains no longer block any placement for any civs in GS.
Deon ☣ 2019
@Cosmic Fox
You have not seen religious units "fighting in real life" because there's not such thing as "unit" in real life. The game abstracts things. There are thousands of real life scenarios of various religious schools fighting each other's influence over people.
Cosmic Fox 2019
Nice concept but religion in civ6 sucks badly, it is no good in real life either but that is another topic. I have not seen religion units fight each other in real life, why do they in game? It is a silly edition IMO
i can only say that i feel the same as rlong9000; althought it is impressive then that romans mods then still somewhat work (besides the great pilot one which i want to play again!)
If time accepts it - and i know time can be harsh at times (no pun intended) - i would kindly ask you too, could you maybe take over his work? Its sadto see modders and their work perish; and especially their work has to be kept in some way...
@AOM - Would you consider picking up the mantle of Storming Romans, as that publisher is apparently otherwise engaged, being absent from steam exceeding a year now. Of most particular interest are the More Relics and Great Pilots mods, but all are worth maintaining and add great value to the game the way I use it as a massive sandboxed self education/exploration simulator with a wide 50+ city empire. Thank you for all you add to the game!
Hi, @_Omen_OZ_, Thank you for this list, it's great! We plan to add Wovoka for sure. Checking out the others as well.
Omen 2019
Some names of various native american spiritual leaders, some more prophet than believer. Just wanted to throw it out there

Tenskwatawa (Shawnee)
Seekaboo (Shawnee), an acolyte of Tenskwatawa
Neolin (Lenape)
Wovoka (Paiute)
Kennekuk (Kickapoo)
Hillis Hadjo (Coushatta), influenced by Seekaboo

Ghost Dance (Wovoka) deviated from this a little, but pretty much all of them preached back-to-your-roots anti-settler stuff in the late 18th early 19th centuries, if that helps with brainstorming for mechanics

Ho yeah, thanks you. ^^

Mod updated for the GS patch (so it will not cause a warning).
@AOM - I didn't see the Hogan giving believer points when I played. Perhaps it was something screwing with my UI, or one of my own attempts at modding breaking something.

I also manually add all the tier 2 holy site buildings to your mod, so perhaps I missed a closing bracket or something.
@Rootimus after subscribing to the Navajo, the Hogan building is showing that it gives great believer points. Is this what you meant? Or did you mean maybe that Khadija was not extending her bonus to the Hogan?
@AOM - EnigmaConundrum's Navajo is one that springs to mind immediately.
@Rootimus can you give an example of a mod that does this? We should be able to have an sql statement to include it, but it would be helpful testing it with a real mod that does this already.
Is there a simple way to make this mod account for unique replacements for shrines? Currently, I have to manually add them for each civ, then if I disable one of those civs I have to remember to go back and comment their line out to stop the game from refusing to load.
Hi kevblackwel, I sent a friend request through Steam.
Michael Schneider 2018
Hello. :)

I like this mod, and i want to play in my natal language. I don't sppeak a good english but i can understrand it. If you wan't, i can translate if in french if you send me the a file text. Ad me in steam if you want, and i send you my e-mail adress. :)

Thanks for this mod. :)

Thank you for the detailed information and the pics Kerrovitarr. We will definitely take a look at this problem.

Hi denis_byls, this seems like a Steam issue rather than a problem with this mod. I'm not sure why Steam is not letting you download. I can send you a dropbox link to the mod if you are willing to drop it in your Mods folder yourself.
I can't seem to download this mod. I can subscribe, but it won't download. 10/8 R&F

Started a new game with only great believers mod. Cheated some gold to buyout Amakusa Shiro. Found some CS warrior (19 strenght) and here's result: +5 faith shown 2 times, while Amakusa Shiro is near my city. Seems like here's some dependance from Era or maybe some policies or something like this.
Here's some screenshots, no faith generation, killed only city state 1 unit.

Here passive from Amakusa Shiro shows like a powerup to my warriors, while he isn't here.

Hi Kerrovitarr, we did not have an event like this while testing the mod before upload, but we didn't check with the game conditions you describe either. We'll check it out. In the meantime, if you have the time, it would be helpful to know if the same kind of issue arises if you use this mod alone (if it does, that would rule out a mod conflict).
Dunno, if it conflicts with my other modes or simply a bug, but Amakusa Shiro passive ability is worldwide and gives far more faith, than should from description. It gave me 132 faith from killing a non-upgraded galley (25 base strenght) on deity difficulty and marathon speed. After killing a galley game shows +6 faith 22 times.
Ok, shrines for early believers points, but what about adding points to temples and worship buildings?
Hi Kerrovitarr, we made the shrines provide great believer points so that people could begin getting these great people early. Many of the great believers were present at early stages of a religion in a given place. They helped develop a strong religious community that then produced a temple. The Oracle is a powerful wonder, so we did not buff it.

We plan to improve some bonuses, including that of Wiborada. Those improvements will be in the next update of the mod which will also include at least two new great believers.
Interesting mod. Finally holy sites generates something more, than faith.
Here's some feedback on current version.
Why only shine generate believer points? I think, temples and worship buildings are more suitable for generation points, than shrines.
Oracle doesn't add believer points.
Wiborada's great writing should gain more faith or something in addition to faith to be competitive with other great writings.
Thank you for the suggestions juraj.sebej, Anon_2, and SirKaijuofVaudeville. We'll look into them all and add some new great believers :)
RENAISSANCE:
Amakusa Shirou: A Japanese Catholic-Rebel who rebelled against the Tokugawa Shogunate in the Shimabura rebellions. Many Japanese Catholics today desire him to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Either:
- Instantly creates a warrior monk with 2x level ups
- Instantly recruits Partisans/Barbarians wherever he's activated.

INDUSTRIAL:
William Miller: One of the primary voices during the Second Great Awakening in the United States, whose fire and brimstone teachings would later go on to found the Adventist movement, and propheczed the return of Jesus in 1844.
-Increases one cities faith output by a certain percentage.

ATOMIC:
John Frum: The name of an American Soldier who caused an infamous cargo-cult to spring up in Vanautu of which I think he could:
- Your religion has increased pressure on city-states by a certain percentage.
MEDIEVAL ERA:

Hassan-i Sabbah: The founder of the Hashashin (AKA Origin of the word Assassins) and an immense devotee of Nizari Ismalli, a psuedo-offshoot of Shia Islam. Assassins known for being hyper devoted to their leader and their cause. So one thing you could add for him is either:
- Passive combat buff to units he's attached too (his men's devotion and zealotry to his cause)
- Instantly creates a fort/culture bomb ALA the Civ 5 Great General Feature (the fortress of Alamut which lasted until the Mongols decimated it)
-Allows the creation of a spy slot, even before you can get one if you can afford him. All Spies have an increased chance of success of assassinating governors as if they all had that level up perk.
- Allows spies to be created with a spy slot and they can be purchased with faith.

Giving you a good late game advantage in the Religion game.

A few ideas ( a few comments long)

CLASSICAL ERA:
Himiko: A Shaman Queen who is mentioned leading a nation called Yamatai in ancient Chinese Trade Manifests. Important figure in early Shinto. Either:
- Allows Holy Site Buildings to be bought with Faith
- Grants a free Governor Title
- Grants a free Trade Route Slot
-
+1 for more of these great people being added.
Julian the Apostate might fit what you are looking for if you want a believer in the Classical Era. Julian was a formidable advocate of Paganism who attempted to rebuild the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem with the intention of reinstituting animal sacrifices. If Julian had succeeded in rebuilding the temple, it would have cast doubt on fundamental Christian beliefs. Julian died on a military campaign before the restoration could be completed.

Actions that could be taken by Julian might include building a temple or repairing a pillaged temple in a city. The action taken might generate a burst of faith. Also, it could generate the effect of an apostle Proselytizer charge in the city. Julian could have two charges.

Hope this helps.
Awessome idea, ill be glad to see more of them !
Now it is very nice mode with all the recomendations it will be one of the best mods. Thank you for creating it and good luck with modifications :)

I can also add few ideas for abilities:
All relics provide +1 amenity and creates relic.
City religious pressure is same as from holy city.
+7 combat strength arround Great Believer (Medieval units only).
Districts provide +1 faith or +1 appropriate yield.
Specialist provide +1faith or Priests provide additional +2 faith.
Standard or Mayor adjacency bonus from Holy Sites.
Convert all citizens in an adjacent city (1 or 2 charges).
Hi [SSC] Borealis, this sounds like two or more mods interacting to produce a result that would not happen with any of the mods alone. We have the buildings set up so that they have an extremely high faith cost to purchase. The amount was set so it is impossible to have that much faith. If you have a mod that affects the cost of faith purchases, this could interact to cause the amount the Bodhi tree costs to increase past the point where the game recognizes the number. In that case, it will begin assigning negative values.

We plan to look at the way we're keeping items from being purchasable to see if there is a better way to go about things. In the meantime, all I can tell you is that this will not happen in the absence of certain mod combinations. I am not sure what mod you have that is interacting.
sad thing i donjt know history but had ideas for features of great believers D:

also, i have something weird happening in my game. i have absolutely no idea what it is. but it happens with another mod as well; HOWEVER not with all mods adding buildings - what happens is that i can purchase the bodhi tree at the start of the game for faith. and the cost for that are somewhere at !!! -20000 !!!
which basically gives me the building for free and then 20k faith at the same time, i just need to build a city.

its not like this with all mods, just with two (this mod, as said, being one of them). i have no idea of coding at all and therefore have no idea where that weird thing could come from.
the other buildings are not built by great people, they are wonders.

if that is a weird - but not game crashing - mod conflict, i cant tell what mod might cause it. i have over 100 mods active xD
