Maybe in addition to the lifesteal-on-kill effect, maybe you could also add a very minor damage over time effect on the player (Like, 1% hp per 5 seconds) while the sword is being wielded? Y'know, so it's like, 'the weapon demands souls, and if you don't feed it, then yours will do just fine...'

Complete overhaul might be coming soon in a new mod. This will feature Nightmare's arm as a part of the Soul Edge weapon, along with Soul Calibur. I also have a skin mod releasing soon, which when used with this new Soulcalibur mod will allow for the previous incarnations and various custom skins for them, in case you prefer the older variations of the weapons. Hope there are versions that add the other forms/looks of Soul Edge that Nightmare has used throughout the Soul series. If you're up to adding new forms that change the gameplay, I'd love to see one that lets you duel wield Nightmare's Soul Edge (Male) with Cervantes's Soul Edge (Female).

On top of that the arm would require more space as most weapons would be offset weirdly and if i dont use extra space i have to shrink it down, making it less ideal and more difficult

While it might be possible with a status effect, its another one of those too much work for something so small
Though with a status it would have an animation for appearing and disappearing, unequipping and equipping the blade basically, an idle animation and more, though i am unsure whether its possible

Since the legs have a set animation, they do not have sleeves so you have just lied about the whole set, its most a set, since an arm/sleeve is unique and has specific frames which back and leg items do not

One question; how is the back item thing not possible. I've seen people who have made entire armour sets that are actually just the legs.

Well, maybe you could make it part of the sword. In SC series, that whole corruption thing is a result of weilding soul edge.
