There is a mod in here that is titled "Realistic Drivers" and I wonder if it claims to be doing what you have already described to have done here?

This mod is so well done!
I will however say the amount of traffic can be a bit overwhelming at times. Especially in small towns and rural areas that seem a bit to congested.

So I noticed something and have a couple questions.
I haven't played ATS in some time now, and recently stepped back in with an old favorite common traffic mod active. I noticed the traffic behavior was bit more realistic and unpredictable.Which is a good thing. Just like RL.
However with this mod active some of the AI are just bat s#@t crazy, just like 25 years of RL truck driving.
Is this because of the traffic mods,or did SCS change the AI too?

I might adjust the density down a little in the config file.

At first the game would not load with mod activated, but after I got wise and placed it above the train mod I have installed it works fine. Traffic looks and feels more realistic now, and forces me to be a more cautious driver as well. Very well done.

@Cipus, I ran like hell. Didn't encounter any unusual traffic incidents although there were accidents, merging issues from 2 lane to one lane(coding) and the occasional off ramp runner refusing to yield to oncoming interstate 65 to 70 mile an hour traffic(coding). Those are areas of traffic density beyond your control.

Flow vs time of day/night was excellent as usual. I did not notice any AI vehicles stopping halfway thru the turn when attempting right-hand turns on green lights at intersections. Overall dealing with traffic density was a great experience 😉

Everything seems smooth, also tested it with the recently updated jazzycat mods (except trucks) and no errors on game.log related to traffic

В этом моде пробок нет вообще даже днем, хотя поток трафика довольно плотный, когда ночью в крупном городе попадается всего 1-2 автомобиля на встречке ну такое себе, не очень реалистично...
Если нужны пробки то брутал траффик в помощь)

@FindFloppies, this mod does not cause CTD in 1.56. I run over 100+ mods. Only had CTD with route advisors.

FindFloppies...check the gamelog just after the CTD... it may and very possibly recorded the crash instance

I can't prove it, but without this mod in 1.56, I'm just fine, and can run some other updated traffic mods, but this one does load, and does run...for a time, and then the game crashes out. So, I can' prove this is the cause, but I can infer it. So hopefully the cause can be found. I'm not using this at the moment because of the issues.

I see a conversation below mentioning SCS changed something in traffic patterns.
I am now noticing that some vehicles are turning left from right hand lanes, and into the closest lane as well.
Of course they have collided with me a few times.
Which does kind of keep you on your toes I guess. But its also annoying.
Did some searching and can't find anyone else talking about it.
Seeing this in a profile with no mods as well.

Dropping a comment about what I found with this mod.
It does work in 1.55, but did cause a game crash when placed in the list like a another good previous traffic mod. Fixed the crash by moving this one up the list to above an extended train mod. Its the only other mod I could see that might conflict with it.

well then I should be happy to play 1.49 and I feel sorry that traffic is no longer the same. from my side I will only remove any rules from traffic_data.sii and let traffic spawn as SCS wants

@patrickp992, Yes there have been changes made regarding traffic since version 1.49. Technically Cip's mod runs on 1.55, I don't think it takes advantage of the new AI spawn logic, time profiles, or weather based traffic behavior introduced in later game versions since he's still running 1.49.

Man I knew I wasn't crazy, I have a video recorded about a year ago and traffic was literally 4 times as much as it is today. I made a little comparison of that vs now.

I also have a clip from April this year, and it worked fine so I believe 1.55 kinda broke it

I feel like there was a LOT more traffic in game version 1.54
Somehow all the traffic is behind me, despite sticking to the speed limit, and oncoming lanes are especially dead

The midnight traffic seems a bit high and unrealistic. Could you reduce it a bit? There shouldn't be this much traffic in a secluded town at 4 am.:steamthumbsup::steamthis:

@Maverick Knight, If I remember correctly the ai behavior was changed after 1.49. Something not mentioned yet, in some areas two-way truck traffic will even go over the outside right solid white line allowing faster drivers to pass. There has been subtle traffic tweaks made by SCS for sure, they just weren't called out in updates but haven't been mentioned in changelogs.

It still crashes my game for some reason after loading.. Have it placed above any other map or traffic mod like shown in the description. My only guess is its one of the traffic mods conflicting with it..

Hi Cipus,
my impression when first driving 1.55 was immediately, that the AI has been modified by SCS.
Cars that have overhauled your truck on the highway mostly return to the right lane right before your truck. Trucks don´t stay in the left lane (as before).
So I think that changes to the AI have been made!

my mod do not make Ai more agressive, but to clarify this I will remove those yield rules next time. I play 1.49 and there everything is just fine about traffic but maybe SCS modified something meanwhile

It's a good mod and I don't know if this is a bug but a lot of times on the roads and highways the ai just randomly crash into each other and don't know how to drive, and I know this mod is meant to add traffic but after the ai crashes into each other they just hold up traffic and don't even move. Especially on the highway, the ai randomly brake for no reason, and there's literally nothing in front of them and I have to brake so then I don't hit them and avoid damaging my truck and load.
