If I were to download the mod from one of the links, would I still need to subscribe to this one in order for the mod to work, or my clothes to appear in game?

You can add more clothes if you want. As many as you want. The only way you could have conflicts, would be if you named your clothes the same as someone else. So I would make sure to name them something no one will think of naming them, like a code word+gear1, gear2 etc.

Can you add as many clothes as you want after you make them? Is it like you add individual clothes files or have to edit a master file? If so, would that conflict with other clothes mods?

I urge you to look at the files to see what they are, and why they are there, to learn.

You can use any word editing program, for example https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.5.1.html to open files to change them.

Gimp https://www.gimp.org/ is a free graphics program people like to use.

Yes. It provides a template so you can be sure you have all the files you need for a clothing mod that works. What you need to do is to change the name "sktest" to what you want, and to obviously change the sprites to your clothing.

Don't bother with climbing. It got removed. I learned that after making armour for my first race :c.

Nah you don't have to. I make templates to make modder's life easier. I will say however, seeing people use my templates makes my heart sing :D.
