In case you don't wanna edit the lua file yourself, here's a fix:

Move the lua file into the autorun folder, and the player should be working again. It also adds the c_HEV hands.

This player model could also use custom viewmodels (then again, no one is propably gonna do that for this one).

I found out how to fix this after the SteamPipe update.

The lua file has to look like this:

local function AddPlayerModel( name, model )

list.Set( "PlayerOptionsModel", name, model )
player_manager.AddValidModel( name, model )

end

AddPlayerModel( "Gordon Freeman", "models/player/gordon_classic.mdl" )

After than, it should now work just fine (it did for me at least).
