Somehow I've only just noticed a few ship block files had a doorway accidentally set to be too tall. This should now be fixed.

Alpha 36

At long last, the ship update! This will complete all of the ship tiers in the base game, eventually giving you a ship size close to the vanilla Novakid ship's size.

Additions/Changes

  • Overhauled the naming schemes. Names should be a bit shorter now for everyone's convenience. As a bonus, I'm tracking name meanings BEFORE I add them, so they'll go into a little lore book you can find for later.
  • Ship colours have been tweaked for more definition.
  • Made changes to the earlier ship tiers to add more detail and visual points of interest. These changes to earlier tiers are solely cosmetic and will not affect your shipworld behaviour.
  • Added ship tiers 5 through 8.
  • Added a new platform block for ships or other industrial needs.
Fixes
  • The Haranak ship door and hatch now emit a small red light when closed and have a fullbright layer as intended.
  • Fixed the ship engine noise not playing in Haranak ships.

Please note that if you had a ship at tiers 5-8 before this update, you may want to perform a .shipworld reset. Please see the patch notes for version alpha 36 for information on how to do so. Make sure you make a backup of your .shipworld files before you do this in case anything goes wrong.

Alpha 35:
Additions/Changes

  • Redid the ship designs for tiers 0 through 3. These feature cargo bay doors, a new blast door and a fancy cupola to look out into space.
  • Added a Tier 4 ship for Haranaks at last.
  • Added a crafting recipe for the new blast doors.
Fixes
  • Fixed the Tier 1 sabre crafting recipe pointing to the wrong weapon.
  • Optimised some sound files.

To use the new ship designs on current characters:
1) Remove everything in your ship that you want to keep and place it on a planet or in your inventory. This includes the contents of chests, containers and blocks.
2) Locate the .shipworld files (including the backups) of your character in your storage folder. Make a copy elsewhere in case something goes wrong.
3) Delete all the .shipworld files associated with your character.
4) Open Starbound and load your character. You should now be on your revamped ship so long as your ship tier was between 0 and 8.

Please make backups before rebuilding your ship this way. I take no responsibility for something going wrong with this that isn't directly linked to the mod structure. if you're not comfortable with this, you can always upgrade your ship tier once, provided you haven't already done so past tier 8.

Additions/Changes

  • Added more dialogue options both to and from Haranaks.
Fixes
  • Fixed potential crewmembers exploding instead of being recruited when talked to. Whoops.
  • Fixed a typo for some options in the name generator.

Alpha 34:

Additions/Changes

  • Added a series of exploration codices that can be found in the supply encounters. I'm planning to expand this in future updates.
  • Added more heat regulator decorations, including a big regulator panel and a TCS unit. These are craftable at the industrial workbench.
  • Added a set of flashing lights in red, green, blue and white. Now you too can prevent low-flying aircraft colliding with your builds. These are craftable at the wiring table.
  • Added more colour options in character creation.
  • Added more head ridge options in character creation.
  • Added a supply drop to desert planets.
  • Added a new truss block. Craftable at the industrial workbench.
    Fixes
  • Fixed Terramart and the supply crate not having seeds added by this mod.
  • Enabled crafting for a darker haranak-specific version of sloped hull.

Minor update, just fixing a couple of borked references that would otherwise make your ship console look weird. This looked fine in testing but should work now.

Alpha 33:

  • Added a colony deed that's Haranak themed. A smaller, 1x1 version is also available. Head to Frogg Furnishing to get both.
  • Updated both of the mech body icons to no longer be placeholders.
  • Fixed some pointer errors in certain object files to reduce .log clogging.
  • Added a farmable crop: Ntajlija. This poisonous flower can be easily converted into a long-lasting healing nectar drink at the apothecary. Seeds can be found at Terramart for now.
  • Enabled crafting for a tier 1 shortsword that had been sitting in the files, but was unused.
  • Added a supply crate for storage stuff. Best used for specialist things.
  • First dungeon added! You can now find basic supply crates in FOREST biomes. These will have some themed goodies including lore items, supplies and even cash.
  • Added some lore codices. There's more to come later.
  • Replaced the placeholder ship pet (a snake) with a little crocodile instead.
  • Revisisted some of the ship graphics to increase contrast and fit the current palette. SAIL console updated to be more thematic.
  • Removed some unused items.
  • Added crafting recipes for BYOS objects including a gun turret and a space radiator panel. You'll find them at the furniture table.
