Roman Imperial Cult

To adress this problem everyone has with the mod, Let me just say that the word "cult" does have a negative connotation, but isn't necessarily bad. An example would be the Imperial Cult from Warhammer: 40K. A cult is pretty much a religion knowingly started by one person in which this person declares himself to be a god.

This does work, aye? Because I felt the Romans were missing something distinctly Roman in the religion category and nothing quite says Glory to the Romans like this.

He was then declared Imperator by the Roman army. When he finally subdued all of his political rivals he made the short step to autocrat and was granted the title Augustus by the senate, thenceforth adopting his regnal name of Imperator Caesar Augustus. In the early Roman empire, the emperors kept several titles always attached to their names: Augustus, an honorific that referenced Octavian; Imperator, which referred to their command over the Roman military; and Caesar, to honor Gaius Julius Caesar, and to denote their deified status. Due to mistranslations over the centuries, the word Caesar became synonymous with 'emperor', hence the words Kaiser in German and Czar in Russian.

Julius refers to Caesar's gens (the Julii). Gens were like clans with many familial branches. A Roman name, at least in Caesar's case, is composed of a praenomen, nomen and cognomen. Gaius is his praenomen, or given name; Julius is his nomen, referring to his gens, the house of the Julii; Caesar is his surname, referring to his specific familial branch within the gens. Thus, Gaius Julius Caesar. Caesar was never an emperor. Augustus (Gaius Octavian) was Caesar's great-nephew. Caesar's will named Octavian his adopted son and heir, and he took the name Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus.

To back up ryoga's argument that Caesar =/= Emperor in latin. Emperor in latin (or as close as can be) is Imperator. I might be wrong but it seems to fit. Also nice mod :D love the image

In my opinion yes, gods and king is worth it, if you are someone who still hadn't enough of Civ V after playing it already for hours.
If you are one who got bored of it already, then it's not like the game changes that much. All the changes are pretty nice, but there's no revolution.
