Eternal Champions

Adds rare and powerful Eternal variants for many enemies and bosses. Also features a challenge in which nearly all enemies that can spawn as eternal variants will do so.

Features

Eternal enemies spawn at random, replacing normal enemies. They spawn very rarely in normal mode, but are slightly more common in hard mode. Eternal enemies usually have more health, and often have some sort of special ability or stronger attack pattern.

This mod also adds a curse called the "Curse of Eternity," which increases the rate of eternal champions, guarantees an eternal boss fight on the floor, and gives you a free eternal heart when the floor starts. This curse can be disabled if you are subscribed to OptionsMod (see link in second paragraph).

The challenge added by this mod is called “Eternity” as well. It gives the player increased damage, but also increases the eternal champion spawn rate to 90% and makes every floor contain an eternal boss fight.

Currently, eternal enemies do not drop special rewards directly. However, after the player defeats a boss, the boss will sometimes drop an eternal heart. The chance of this happening is based on how many eternal enemies the player killed on that floor. Additionally, killing eternal enemies gives you a small chance to encounter the angel room after the boss fight (assuming you were going to encounter neither the angel nor devil room). This can happen even if the player has taken a devil deal in the past!
