描述
"A new way to sustain your overpopulated worlds! Solyent green is a new food made of high-energy plankton from the World Ocean, more nutritious and palatable than its predecessors"

This mod introduces one new technology and building that focuses on population processing. In short, your populace becomes something useful and forms an alternative way of removing pops besides purging.

What it adds:

- technology that follows up from xenology, which allows you to construct a Soylent Green Factory. Pacifists and scientists with biology have a stronger affinity to get this tech.

What it does:

- allows access to the Soylent Green Factory that adds 6 food and 6 social research, along with 5% happiness.
- this building is unique. The AI will not build this due to concerns of how the AI handles pop growth.
- every year a population disappears on the planet, though you get 75 social research in return. If a planet has 1 pop then this effect will not occur.
- robotic pops are not consumed.

Caveats:

- disabling the building will not stop the disappearances due hardcoded limits. Destroying it however will.

Planned:

- balance (need suggestions)
- tying in new events to it at a certain chance.

@ crow, the idea behind Soylent green is that the major pops don't know what is really in the food, hence normally it should not cause approval ratings among the planetary pop; just that its cheap, nutritious sustenance (and hence a cause for happiness).

However, Im considering reworking the mechanic behind the pop removal. By having the building you will have access to planetary edicts regarding processing, like undiscriminated harvesting or anyone besides the root/subspecies. Each year will have a chance to trigger an event and depending on the variables, it might lead to having the truth come out and get accepted, or not..

Im not sure when banks come out, since they are reworking the collectivist/individualist ethics completely, but those will probably have an effect on the events outcome.:steamhappy:

would be interesting if this was more likely for collectivist societies and if it caused negative approval ratings in individualist/spiritualist pops, not sure if that's really your idea for balance or even possible though

@ [tdve]warangel , interesting question, but the answer is to offer more options to handle your population. Remember, it also gives 75 social research when a pop is processed. Technically you can enslave a rapid breeding race and put these on the planet.

Further planned idea's is to have a rare event trigger that generates a strategic resource, allowing you to sell alien food to your alien neighbours
