What does Frackin Races do?

Well, Starbound has no racial abilities. This mod changes that. Each race (including many player-made ones) has various abilities. Some are detrimental, while others are great to have. Different playstyles will suit some races better than others, and much more besides. This mod does not add races to Starbound, it merely enhances them.

Due to weapon function edits, the following mods may or *will* cause issues with FR installed:

I cannot possibly keep up with the nearly daily race-adds in the community. Instead, we have provided the tools modders require to add support on their own.

To add support modders only need to do the following:
1. Clone the git repo
2. create a .raceeffect file using the existing FR ones as a basis for guidance. This sets their abilities.
3. create a .species file patch file for your race to display their race stats in-game
4. edit the tricorder status data to add your race name within the interface/scripted/statWindow/statWindow.config file
5. add your race to the "includes" list in the mod meta file
6. Submit your pull request to git

Voila.

Then I guess you'd better teach yourself like I did, huh? It takes about 10 minutes to learn to do what is needed to edit or add a race.


***Disclaimer: Any character, while FR is installed, will have the effects for their race applied without prompting you. This cannot be avoided. If you have a character and this mod, they get their racial bonus. Additionally, with FR installed your characters will *require* FR in order to appear at all. Their powers are added by status effects, and Starbound cannot read characters with missing status effects. So if you uninstall FR, you will lose your dudes. ***
