P-39Q Airacobra

Weapon Mapping:

This Airacobra uses the Rogue as its primary model. The Primary slot is the same as always, with two hard points. The Secondary slot is intended for the aircraft's cannon, and will fire from front and center. The Bottom slot is intended for bombs and only has one hardpoint. The Left slot is intended for machine guns, and has four total hard points (mapped accordingly to the aircraft).

Skins:

There are four skins used: one American, one Polish, and two Soviet.

History & Facts:

One of the US's foremost early war aircraft, the P-39Q was a controversial plane that was underpowered from the start and unable to keep up with other aircraft at high altitudes. As it was unable to perform the interceptor/bomber escort role, the Airacobra soon fell out of favor and became a major Lend-Lease export to the USSR. The Soviets utilized the Iron Dog well, taking advantage of its firepower and sturdy construction to turn it into one of the most successful fighters in the war. It was also used by the Free French, British, Italian, and many other allied forces. To this day, it still holds the record for most kills by any single American fighter type.
