Ukraine mod for Rise of Nations Extended Edition

UPDATE: I decided to go back and revamp this mod a bit as I thought I could make this mod alot better than it was. With this in mind, I have added a couple of new unique units for the Ukrainians: Mi-24 Hind attack helicopters and T-64BM main battle tanks. I also removed the cossack units that Ukraine had earlier shared with the Russians, although they still share the Red Guards infantry in the modern age with Russia. I redid the National Guard infantry with a new model (using the standard assault infantry model instead of the African assault infantry model they used before) and added a new icon for the Sich Riflemen.


Hello! Once again, Kaiser_Mobius here with yet another new nation mod for Rise of Nations: Extended Edition. This time I am very happy to present my Ukraine Nation Mod for the game!

For this mod, I have replaced the default Egyptian civilization with the Ukrainians, due to Egypts large number of agricultural related nation powers. This also means that Ukraine gets the Two Wonders per City power that Egypt has, which I hope does not make them too overpowered. For unique units, I have loaded up Ukraine with not only a host of units for themselves, but also giving them some Russian unique units like Don Cossacks or Red Guards Infantry which they share with them. I figured this would be a good choice due to their shared history of being part of much larger empires like the Russian Empire or Soviet Union. I even made Nikita Khruschev one of the Ukrainian leaders due to this.

For the rest, I hope you enjoy the mix of unique and colourful Industrial era infantry and armoured cars, to represent the brief period of time after World War 1 when an attempt was made to establish an independent Ukrainian state. For the information age, I have given Ukraine the National Guard infantry and given them a neat retexture of the default MiG-29 fighter jet. I am even playing with the idea of having Ukraine share the Russian T-80 Main Battle Tank unique unit but I am still on the fence with that, I may or may not do so in a future patch or update.

Once again, as with the other nation mods I created, you can download it by clicking the subscribe button. To enable it, select Egypt as the player nation in the quick battle setup screen, then on the mods dropdown menu select Ukraine, and everything should work properly.

I have playtested the mod a bit to try and find any possible bugs or problems but have not found any as of yet. As always, if you encounter some kind of problem please leave a comment and I will try to resolve it ASAP. I am also open to constructive criticism or suggestions not only for this mod but also suggestions for future nation mods I may create. Currently I am leaning towards making some kind of Arab or North African nation as my next project, perhaps followed by a northern European or Latin American country.
