1182 AD: Baronal Campaign

CONTEXT:
1182 AD. The young King Philip II of France seeks to consolidate royal authority over a land still dominated by powerful feudal lords. Surrounded by enemies and distrusted by his own vassals, the Capetian king must outsmart the great nobles if he wishes to secure his fragile throne.

In the north, Philip of Alsace, Count of Flanders, gathers allies among the lords of Champagne and Burgundy, forming a league to resist the French royal power and keep their lands free from the King’s grasp.

To the southwest, young Richard of Plantagenet has earned his surname “the Lionheart” after securing the Duchy of Aquitaine in the name of his father, King Henry II of England. Now, however, he faces the rebellion of younger Brother Geoffrey of Brittany, and his older brother and heir to the Throne of England, Henry the Young King.

And stranded between these gigantic powers lay small fiefs and lordships, whose decisions may cost them their lives, and whose allegiance could decide who sits on the throne of France, and who inherits the English Crown.

The kingdom stands divided: ambition, betrayal, and power will decide who truly rules France.

BALANCE WARNING: The different factions of the campaign are not balanced, and are not supposed to be. Each faction should deliver a different experience, both in territorial distribution and in difficulty.

REALISM WARNING: The geographical distribution aims to be as realistic as possible, though some licenses have been taken in favor of gameplay.

EXTRA CUSTOMIZATION:
- Each of these factions is custom made by me, with custom titles, names and prefixes for castles.
- Each of these factions presents one of two completely custom made unit rosters, accurate to the time period and carefully balanced in stats and economy.
- A total of six great castles have been added to the already rich selection of vanilla fortresses. All of these castles were custom made by me.
- The city of Paris now has its own custom walls, and can be stormed by siege.
- Each of the settlements have a different battle map, specifically chosen for variety and immersion.
