Midland Compound No. 1000

This is the famous Midland Compound Class 1000. The Midland Railway's top line express locomotive. Originally designed and built by S W Johnson in 1902 and subsequently modified and rebuilt by Deeley with new superheated boilers.

Henry Fowler took the design further and built 195 LMS Compounds.

They could reach top speeds of 85mph and this model does too.

This rendition is based on the single preserved example No.1000.

This is a real working steam locomotive so here are a few tips.

Operating tips:

Turn on water pump. Increase blower to 1.0 when lighting fire and until reaching boiler pressure of 220psi. Once at pressure you can reduce to 0.5-0.6.

The front wheels are liable to damage on sharp corners at high speeds to turn vehicle damage off if needed.

Toggle buttons to release coupling can be access by crouching under the front and rear buffer beams.
