Fate Of Byzantium
This mod is functional however I am still assessing All Under Heaven's impact

Mod that aims to control Byzantium (and the Admin Government in general) following their post Roads to Power implementation.

With this mod Byzantium should be:
* a regional power that still poses a challenge to fight
* unable to expand so freely in all directions
* vulnerable to internal factions and invading realms

There are two mains parts to this mod:
* a new thematic struggle for Byzantium (can be disabled via game rules)
* nerfs/tweaks/fixes to Administrative governments

Mod Status
This mod is considered complete. I will do my best to ensure compatibility with game version updates.

Please note that I currently have no intention of buying future CK3 DLCs. If a future DLC breaks this mod I will not be able to fix it.

Key Details
* New Byzantine Struggle mechanic for the Byzantine region
* Economic changes to Byzantium, whilst still comparatively rich they no longer print money
* Populist factions no longer fight for the state faith, instead behaving like they do in other governments
* Reworked Governor Efficiency score, high scores will be more difficult to achieve
* Seljuk invasion event for pre-1178 starts, allowing Rum to pose an issue to Byzantium
* Admin governments for Asia (if you do not have All Under Heaven)

Disclaimer
This mod is an attempt to balance CK3's overpowered implementation of Byzantium via game mechanics. It is not trying to be a historically accurate portrayal of Byzantium.

Known Issues
Struggle ending decisions disappear from struggle interface: Confirmed Issue[forum.paradoxplaza.com]

Data error in loc string 'game_concept_fate_of_byzantium_struggle' error logs: Not sure why its complaining here as it resolves the text without issue, can ignore for now

Recommended Mods
* Worthy Conquerors - prevent struggle participants from becoming conquerors and can remove Saladin's conqueror trait via a game rule
* Cultures Expanded - mod has been designed with this mod enabled

Compatibility
There are a bunch of overrides (populists, rum, governor efficiency, etc...) made by this mod. It is unlikely to cause any crashes with other mods that override these things but be aware you may get a different experience.

Localisation
I welcome any localisation mods. Please let me know if you make one, and I will add a link.

sorry, i noticed the rule. After some study i realize that i just confused the Arslan invasion with the Suleiman invasion.

For those with invasion related questions there is a game rule to disable the one introduced in this mod. Please look at the game rules link in the description...

@Tig Biddies - this mod does change 'Chance of Frankokratia' game rule default from Balanced to Fourth Crusade. Aside from that there are no changes to that mechanic. Try switching it back if you want to see more Fourth Crusades.

can you delete the invasion of rom in 1066 bookmark? I solve the invasion setting by paradox and there's an other invasion even though the true seljuk empire has plunged into civil war.

So far the Fourth Crusade hasn't triggered and its already 1225, is this a known bug or just a quirk of my current play through?

Just a suggestion - change the de jure territory of byzantium so that slavic balkan areas - as well as maybe krete and cyprus - aren't included. As it is, independence factions don't seem to form, because although the vassals have the ability to create independence factions, they choose not to as they see the emperor as their "rightful ruler".

@Finwë @naked jesus @Vatonage - thanks for highlighting this. TLDR: the devs had updated the RtP interactions to make them applicable to Japan admin, and this mod was still using the old definitions.

I've put in a fix for this now hopefully. As I don't own AuH please let me know if you still see issues wrt Japan Admin
