Kyushu Railway Class 154 / Japanese Government Railways Class 8550 Steam Locomotive

描述
The Kyushu Railway Class 154 (Class 8550 after nationalization) steam locomotive is a tender locomotive with a 2-6-0 (1C) axle arrangement. Imported from the Schenectady Locomotive Works in the United States in 1899, it was a versatile locomotive suitable for both passenger and freight service. It combined the best features of the passenger locomotives imported around the same time from the same company—the Class 55 and Class 116 (Class 5700 after nationalization)—and the freight locomotive Class 128 (Class 9500 after nationalization). It was a high-performing locomotive that became a mainstay of the Kyushu Railway Company. Imports and additions continued until 1906 (during this period, the Schenectady Locomotive Works merged with several other companies to form the American Locomotive Company, ALCO). The total number reached 61 units, the largest number of locomotives of a single type owned by a single private railway company during the Meiji era. In 1907, the Kyushu Railway was nationalized under the Railway Nationalization Act. Following a model change and renumbering in 1909, the Kyushu Railway Class 154 locomotives were changed to Class 8550, with numbers ranging from 8550 to 8610. After nationalization, they continued active service across Kyushu and on the Sanyo Line. Between 1921 and 1922, some were converted to superheated boilers, becoming the 8500 series (2nd generation). Later, many were reassigned as shunting locomotives, with some transferred away from Kyushu to locations like Hiroshima and Kyoto. Although all units remained operational after the WWII, rapid scrapping followed, concluding with the complete retirement and dismantling of the entire fleet by 1950.

~Mod Contents~
This mod adds 9 types of steam locomotives with different paint schemes and signs depending on the era. These will all be added as variations of [Kyushu Railway Class 154 /JGR Class 8550]. Nighttime signs were used on sections with tunnels longer than half a mile (about 800 m), even during the daytime, after 1901. The variations for nighttime use are intended for use in such sections.
Appearance year: 1899~1901
○Kyushu Railway Class 154 (Before 1901, with three white lights)
○Kyushu Railway Class 154 (Before 1901, Sign for Single Track per JGR Regulations)
○Kyushu Railway Class 154 (Before 1901, Sign for double Track per JGR Regulations)
Appearance year: 1901~1909
○Kyushu Railway Class 154 (for daytime use)
○Kyushu Railway Class 154 (for nighttime, for single-track)
○Kyushu Railway Class 154 (for nighttime, for double-track)
Appearance year: 1909~1948
○JGR Class 8550 (Late Meiji era ~ Early Taisho era, for daytime use)
○JGR Class 8550 (Late Meiji era ~ Early Taisho era, for nighttime, for double-track)
Appearance year: 1909~1924
○JGR Class 8550 (Late Meiji era ~ Early Taisho era, for nighttime, for single-track)

~In game performance~
Max speed: 78km/h
Weight: 41.6t
Power: 392.82kw
TractiveEffort: 97.34 kN
Length (including buffer): about 14.6m

~Caution~
○There are many unknowns about Japanese vehicles of Meiji era. So, I have made my own guesses about the dimensions, colors, and other unknowns. Therefore, the dimensions and shape may differ from the actual car, and some parts may not be reproduced.
○The performance of this vehicle is a guess by the mod creator.
○Currently, the running sounds and whistle use the sounds originally included in the game.
○The width of some parts has been changed from the original dimensions for the convenience of adapting the 1067mm gauge locomotive to the game's gauge (length, height, and boiler diameter were created aiming for near-original dimensions). Additionally, models for some parts have been omitted.
○In order not to make the contents of the mod too complicated, I have not reproduced all of the front and rear signs, and for the 1887~1901 variants, I have only reproduced the two types for regular passenger trains.
○Since I am not expecting to be able to prepare variations from the Taisho~Showa era now, the variations from the Late Meiji~Early Taisho era can be used until 1950, but if I add more variations in the future, I plan to change the year of availability. As for the front signs used on the Late Meiji - Early Taisho variations, if we follow the subsequent history, the 1924 (Taisho 13) revision made it possible to use green lights on single track sections at night as well as on double track sections (thus, as far as single track use is concerned, until 1924), Around 1930, such front signs seem to have been discontinued. Please note that the signs on trains have been changed since then.
○Please be aware that some of the descriptions in the mods may be incorrect.
○When installing the mod, please make sure that it works on your own PC and install it at your own risk.
Please understand the above in advance.

Basically, my mod does not support color changes. I apologize for not being able to meet your request.

For example, I'm planning to add more 4-4-0 wheel arrangement locomotives like the Class 5300 and Class 6400 steam locomotives.
I basically decide on a whim, so what I'll create doesn't become clear until the last minute.
There are far too many things I want to create to list here, but making them requires an enormous amount of time.

I only wish this was repaintable

May I ask which other vehicles you are considering - even if the plans are not concrete?

I see. So the driver's seat placement is intentional? I have heard of British locomotives having the driver's seat on the right side, so it's not without precedent; but it is quite unusual. Did Kyushu Railway have different practices than the Japanese Government Railways?
There can't be many open-deck coaches left; you've made a lot of them already. I hope you will also make an early (1880's) two-axle second-class car at some point, as that's one of the big holes in the vehicle list

Below is the same content in English.
Thank you! I guessed the driver's seat is on the right side because the throttle lever and reversing lever are on the right. I plan to make variations from 1925 onward with knuckle couplers, but I won't be making them for a while. Next, I plan to continue the open-deck bogie coaches series.

Another gorgeous model!
Is it intentional that the driver sits on the right? I thought he'd be on the left. Also, is there a chance that you would consider making variants with knuckle-couplers for the later appearances?
Just out of curiosity; do you have any plans for what you're working on next?
