Kholo Ancestry

描述
Kholos are hyena-headed humanoids who embrace practicality and pragmatism. They have access to a myriad of feats surrounding hunting, stealth, and witchcraft.

Enhanced Senses You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to checks made to Seek.
Bite You gain a jaws unarmed attack that deals 1d6 piercing damage.

Heritages
  • Ant Kholo. You're trained in Deception and gain the (⚙️Exploration Activities) Deceptive Approach skill feat.
  • Cave Kholo. Increase your Enhanced Senses bonus to a +2 and gain that bonus to saves against Light effects.
  • Dog Kholo. Increase your speed to 30 feet while both hands are free.
  • Great Kholo. Gain 2 more HP from your ancestry, and gain a +1 circumstance bonus to Athletics checks to Reposition, Shove, or Trip.
  • Sweetbreath Kholo. You're trained in Diplomacy and gain the (⚙️Exploration Activities) Glad-Hand skill feat.
  • Winter Kholo. You gain cold resistance equal to half your level (minimum 1).
  • Witch Kholo. You gain an occult innate cantrip of your choice, and you gain a +1 circumstance bonus to checks to Create a Diversion.

Ancestry Feats
Level 1
  • Ask the Bones. Once per day, attempt to (⚙️DawnniExpanded) Recall Weakness as a free action with a +1 circumstance bonus.
  • Crunch. Your kholo jaws increases to a d8 and gain the versatile bludgeoning trait.
  • Hyena Familiar. You gain a hyena familiar who always prepares the scent ability.
  • Kholo Lore. You become trained in Stealth and Survival.
  • Kholo Weapon Familiarity. You gain familiarity with kholo weapons (flail, khopesh, mambele, war flail, and any with the kholo trait), letting you use any simple proficiency for all listed simples and martials, and use martial proficiency for advanced weapons. You also gain critical specialization at level 5.
  • Pack Hunter. (⚙️More Basic Actions, possibly more) You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to Aid allies, and allies get the same bonus to Aid you.
  • Sensitive Nose. While you're conscious, enemies within 30 feet can't be undetected thanks to your imprecise scent.
Level 5
  • Absorb Strength. Enemies leave a piece of themselves behind that you can consume as an action to gain Temporary Hit Points.
  • Affliction Resistance. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to diseases and poisons with a successful save upgrade, and if you have the juggernaut class feature, you also upgrade critical failures too.
  • Distant Cackle. You can innately cast Fear once per day.
  • Left-hand Blood. You can slash yourself as an action to poison your next hit with a weapon.
  • Pack Stalker. (⚙️Exploration Activities) When you Avoid Notice, your allies do too. (This effect can only be applied after initiative is already rolled, so allies can hide with any skill used for initiative.)
  • Rabid Sprint. Spend 2 actions to Stride 3 times while your hands are free.
  • Right-hand Blood. You can slash yourself before you stabilize or staunch bleeding to gain a +1 item bonus to the check.
Level 9
  • Ambush Hunter. (⚙️Exploration Activities) You can Avoid Notice at the same time you Scout, or vice versa. (You select one, and gain the benefits of the other for free.)
  • Breath Like Honey. Once per day, you can cast Soothe at 3rd-rank.
  • Grandmother's Wisdom. Once per day, you can cast Deflect Critical Hit at 3rd-rank.
  • Laughing Kholo. You gain the Intimidating Glare and (⚙️Exploration Activities) Battle Cry skill feats.

Other Additions
  • Spirit Thresher. A new weapon with art drawn by @abloomsdayy[x.com].
  • Scent. A new familiar ability which provides a passive creature detection within 15 feet (less than Sensitive Nose, and doesn't require other communication abilities on the familiar, for balance reasons).

Differences from Tabletop
  • Special Vision. Instead of ignoring low-light and darkvision due to a lack of implementation in DD, I thought it would be nice to make Seeks a little more reliable with a +1 circumstance bonus. Since darkvision has to do with light as well, I figured a bonus to saves against Light effects for Cave Kholo was appropriately thematic in addition to increasing this bonus.
  • Exploration Activities. Many features interact with non-combat abilities, such as bonuses to Make an Impression. These leverage the Exploration Activities mod to offer more appropriate functionality for DD, often granting the feat that is required in the first place to take a new activity option.
  • Spells. Many spells -- such as figment, ventriloquism, augury, and enthrall -- are non-combat or niche in DD, so these are replaced with more combat-potent alternatives. For this reason, witch kholos can pick any cantrip, rather than one being decided for them.
  • Recall Knowledge. Interactions with Recall Knowledge instead interact with Recall Weakness from DawnniExpanded.
  • Grapple. The grapple trait does very little in DD currently, so Crunch offers versatile bludgeoning instead.
  • Weapon Familiarity. For compatibility with Dawnsbury Days, you don't need all simple weapon proficiency, just proficiency with any one simple weapon (which every class has at least one), to gain the benefits of this feat. Remastered class mods are not required. Its functionality is nearly identical to tabletop otherwise.
  • Imprecise Scent. Special senses are mostly niche, so aside from one campaign easter egg, scent simply works reliably rather than constantly trying to determine what creatures can take special precautions or when your sense of smell should be counteracted.
  • Affliction Resistance. It's not currently possible to reliably check for any feature or effect which would upgrade your save against poisons and diseases, but it is at least possible to search for features called "Juggernaut" to offer some enhancements in the majority of cases.
  • Pack Stalker. Since Terrain Stalker is an exploration function, this gives group Avoid Notice to make it punch a little harder for the transition to combat in DD. Something like Follow the Expert benefits for when other people decide to Avoid Notice seemed too weak to be worth a feat.
