Large Vessel Recovery Platform - With Dynamic Positioning & Automatic Throttle For Electricity Generator Engines

描述
For recovering the larger vessels available in the underwater recovery missions.

Comes with all the necessary equipment.

TO USE:

First tow the platform close to the destination within 250 metres is good, the closer, the better.

Disconnect the tugging boat you have used and move it away from the platform.

Board the platform, turn systems on, place a waypoint on the map directly where the vessel to be recovered is and then enter the waypoint into the "Dynamic Positioning Target" keypad. Alternatively enter the coordinates manually).

Enable the dynamic positioning from the toggle button next to the keypad. The platform will move to that location. Be patient, it's max speed is about 5 knots. The platform may seem it is going in the wrong direction at times, but it will get to the correct coordinates and will only take a minute or two, depending on how far away you are.

The blue ticks will start to light up when you have reached your destination.

Grab a compass and diving suit, dive to where the vessel to be recovered is and determine what direction it is facing. Get back to the platform and enter coordinates (either by waypoint or manually) into the "Heading Coordinates" keypad. Then enable the hold heading from the toggle button next to the keypad. The platform will rotate to the correct heading. There are compass balls in the cabins also, which will help with this.

Enable the winch anchor lights and lower the three main winches that have the mag all connectors (the winch anchors) on them. The winches can be lowered simultaneously, or one at a time. Turn on the mag alls and if you have positioned yourself correctly they will lock on to the vessel to be recovered. There are cameras on the winch anchors to assist with this. The bow and stern cranes can also be moved to take into account the length of the vessel. You may have to dive down and manually position the winches (they have handles on them) if the waters are rough, if you do this, disable the mag alls, dive down and position the winch anchors manually. Go back to the surface, if you have enough slack, the winch anchors should remain in position. Then enable the mag alls and they will lock on.

Raise all 3 winches until the vessel is just below the water line. The cranes have cameras also which can assist with this.

If the waters are calm, most of the above can be done from the cabins.

There are supplementary winches that can be used if the vessel being recovered is heavy, place them symmetrically if possible.

There are securing winches also, they will stop the vessel from swaying and potentially damaging the platform when it is fully out of the water. Place these symmetrically. If possible you will need to make sure that at least the 4 corner securing winches are used, otherwise, damage to the platform is likely in rough waters and this can cause the recovered vessel to be dropped.

Once you have all the winches tightened to the necessary levels, disable the dynamic positioning & hold heading and you are ready to head off to the drop off location. At this point, the engines generating electricity can be shut down.

The accompanying pics show examples of the above instructions.

Once you have reached the drop off location, lower the necessary winches until the recovered vessel is just below the water level, detach the securing winches, detach the supplementary winches and then disable the mag alls.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

When you are using the dynamic position, you will need to activate the electricity generators. The engine throttle for the generators will automatically adjust depending on the amount of electricity you are using. I was able to stay for 3 in game days in rough waters and there was still 25% fuel left for the engines after I had started to tow the recovered vessel to its drop off point.

There is a toggle button for dynamic positioning - rough waters mode. Use this if the waters are rough and it will increase the power output of the electric motors powering the azimuth thrusters. Using the rough waters mode in calm waters will actually end up making the platform less stable, so only use if you feel as though the waters are causing you to loose the dynamic positioning coordinates by too much. The rough waters mode can be used when you are initially journeying to the destination coordinates with the platform, it will make the platform travel faster. Disable it, if the waters are calm, after you have reached the destination coordinates.

There is roof access - if you accidentally store any of the ropes, connected to the winches, in your inventory, they can all be re attached to the winches and the relative rope anchors.

The supplementary winches have two buttons to operate all of them at the same time, the same for the securing winches. This seems to work fine, there was already enough buttons I thought. I don't believe that the ropes are capable of snapping under tension in Stormworks.

There are two cabins both cabins have the same control panels and either panel can be used.

If you don't have your own tugboat, I have an accompanying tugboat available in my workshop. It is not very fuel efficient though, but it did what I wanted.
