The Performance Mod, Expanded and Enhanced

What is it?
This mod is an updated version of the original Performance Mod.

What are the changes?
It aims to improve the game performance while keeping the gameplay as vanilla as possible. It doesn't merge any nations on the game map but instead reduces those who are minors and have a generic focus tree to mere dummy nations that consume as little CPU as possible.

Features:
  • Spot Optimization Mod Included: This mod is kinda complex but bottom line is: it makes the game run faster/smoother (especially in MP), speeds up diplomatic/peace-conference pacing, makes the AI far more permissive about attachés and state transfers, and cleans up the map by grouping icons and improving label visibility—overall a “performance + readability + less friction” preset. Doesn't do much in single-player.
  • AI division Limiter by Yard1 included: This mod significantly improves the game performance by limiting how many divisions a given AI nation can field. It’s a dynamic “division cap” tied to industrial capacity, with wartime/major/tension bonuses. When exceeded, the AI’s appetite for all land unit training is crushed until it falls back under the limit (or the limit rises).

    Quick examples:
    Minor, peacetime, 50 total factories:
    cap = 50 × 1.15 = 57.5 → effectively 57 divisions before the limiter triggers.
    Major, at war, threat 0.8, 100 factories:
    cap = 100 × 1.15 × 1.2 × 1.15 × 1.05 ≈ 166.6 divisions.

    This alone boosts the late game immensely.

  • Removed Generic Focus Tree
  • Removed Research Slots (for nations without a unique focus tree)
  • Nations with generic focus trees can't train or delete any units, meaning Ecuador, which never enters World War 2, won't lag your game more than it does at the start.
  • Decisions disabled (for nations without a unique focus tree.)
  • Intelligence Agency Disabled (for nations without a unique focus tree.)
  • Blocked Trade by adding +1000% consumer goods factories (for nations without a unique focus tree.)

More features will probably be added as the mod expands, blocking trade and construction etc. There probably is a way to just change the AI behavior responsible for slowing the game down, but I am not that skilled in modding to know that.

As soon as I figure out how to implement new improvements, they will be added.

I am also considering getting rid of new nations that didn't get new focus trees but were added in the Graveyard of Empires, (British and French puppets), they only cause lag and don't bring any value to the player.
