The map's name is because the edge (or corner areas) are directly at the max limit of the map where the fast lifts bring you.
Also you can throw stuff down the vertical tunnel and walk into the bird picture that spawns you down where the stuff than falls.

An additional portal was added that brings you to the center as you would need to walk a lot without that.
