Horace is a Warden style boss with a twist. Phase one, he floats and peppers you with slow homing shots, spear volleys, and yellow lasers while Synths poke at you. Break his shield and he flips to a melee chase with scythe strings, a jumping slam, and a thrown scythe that leaves a lingering hazard. It’s a clean skill check on spacing, cover swaps, and quick target swaps. Shock first, then burn.

Follow the main story to the mission Down and Outbound and push through the Order Surveillance Center until the drop into Horace’s arena. You’re in Horace’s Oversight, a facility in the Hungering Plain of the Fadefields. After the clear, you can come right back and re-run him using Moxxi’s Big Encore machine placed near the arena entrance. Easy farm loop unlocked.

1. Open with Shock to chew through his blue bar fast. Keep mid range, peek from crate stacks when the projectile swarm blooms upward before arcing down, then swap to Incendiary once the shield pops and he commits to the scythe stance. If he hunches, get behind cover. If he winds the throw, move off the landing zone so you don’t eat the area burst. Short magazines shine here since reloads fit neatly into the recovery between volleys.
   
   
2. Use the room. Pillars and tall boxes block multi-projectile lines and buy time for shield recharge. Treat summons as maintenance. Pop the flying Witness and any mechanical homing projectile he calls in so they don’t pinch you while you reposition. Keep one weak ground add alive if you want a reliable Second Wind anchor. Dash left or right to break scythe combos in phase two, including midair dashes to avoid ground shockwaves. It feels scripted once you see it once.
   
   
3. Chasing drops. Horace can award Aegon’s Dream assault rifle, Lucky Clover pistol, Whiskey Foxtrot assault rifle, Pacemaker repkit, and Sho Kunai grenade. If Aegon’s Dream is your target, Encore makes repeat kills efficient, so run three to five clears per loop and vendor trash between attempts.

  Flip it after you’ve learned the pattern to speed Encore farming for Aegon’s Dream or Pacemaker without changing your build.
  
  
• No Recoil
  Keeps SMGs and pistols steady while you stutter-peek from crates during phase one and snap back after each scythe whiff in phase two.
  
  
• Super Accuracy
  Tightens crit strings during those short punish windows, especially right after the swarm volley or the scythe throw recovery.
